Wait till it posts before you get too worried. Reloads on certain debit cards show up as a pending cash advance on Citi but post as a purchase so you just might get lucky. The negative is even after it posts as a purchase the pending CA hangs around a few weeks (no kidding) so your credit line/CA limit it reduced by that amount till it falls off.

Edit nevermind hadn't had my coffee yet and I now see it posted on 5/14. Yeah that is not good. I only used Chase cards at AAA before my ban and they posted as purchases.

FWIW, my purchases posted as purchases as of 5/22 on my Citi AA Exec...

It shows a cash advance on my online acct in the upper left hand side.

I'll hope that somehow it drops off when my statement is issued..I'll up date in a week or so

On a different note, Citi cards are posting as purchase correct? I saw a couple posts about it looking like they'd post that way, but no definite confirms...

Bridgewater, NJ branch I was told you are limited to $500/mo with a credit card. I was told they had a lot of fraud issues, and this was there way of combating it. They also have a list of people they can't sell them too. As a datapoint, the same office sold me $4k a few days earlier, and this was just a friendly update, as policy had changed in a few days, and before they were willing to sell me as much as I could carry.

Same thing for me here in IND. They had plenty of cards when I went in a week ago--today they could barely find extras and they kept questioning me as to why I needed $2k of GC's.

Also, for the record, they can see how you used your past GC's and she was asking what I was doing using the last GC I bought at a WM ATM. Luckily, I had a true story about them not activating it correctly so I said I was trying to find out if it was usable before I gave it to someone as a gift.

Will not be returning... Bummer! Off to SoCal to try my luck!

Good to know. Are you aware of other greater HV-locations for CC use?

Yes, no issue with Chase.

Went in and bought 6x$500 today. First time doing it. Very easy. Used my Citi AA exec so now a bit worried how it's going to post. When activating the cards, the lady told me some guy came in yesterday and bought 20 of them. Holy crap. I was jealous and a bit bummed I didn't ask for more.

Purchased 15 x $500 at the Scarsdale, NY office. They told me it was 15 per person max for the promotion. Used a Visa card.

Tried the Stamford, CT High Ridge Road office, but they didn't even have any, and said they only get them now and then. They didn't know anything about the promo.

I purchased 4x$500 last month. Sent my wife in on Saturday, she was told there was a problem on Metabanks side, and they couldn't process gift cards. I called today and asked if the problem was fixed, I was put on hold then asked my name, when I gave my name she replied "no, we can't sell you any cards", I asked if it was me or just anyone and she replied "we have a list of people we can't sell cards to", she asked me if I wanted Metabanks number and I declined.
Data Point - I loaded the cards via WM onto Bluebird over a period of 3-4 days. Obviously Metabank tracked them and blacklisted me

Is Metabank somehow losing money by selling their product? I don't understand.

Since you're blacklisted, have you considered this approach?

For SoCal it appears they want you to order off their Web site. You need to be signed in to the AAA Web site, and there is a link on the "FINANCIAL" tab portion of the site. There I find the following (below); to purchase I am redirected to a portal page that is apparently run by MetaBank.

Personally, I don't think it has anything to do with Metabank losing money, but rather the fact that Walmart is coding these transactions as ATM withdrawals, regardless of whether the transaction is completed at Kate, MC, or a cashier. As such, they view this simply as a violation of their terms and conditions.

If you have ever viewed your transaction history on one of these Metabank AAA prepaid debit cards you would notice under the transaction history that all BB loads are listed as atm withdrawals.
