How long are you giving between setting a pin and liquidating?

I set a pin and went to liquidate at Kate within 5 minutes and it said debit card not accepted//insufficient funds.

So it turns out that when I swiped the card and entered my pin it went through as a transaction even though nothing was loaded to BB. Now instead of saying $500 available, $0 is available when I call in.

Will this automatically return within 7 days or should I call Metabank?

I was in Tysons Corner (Vienna, VA) last night and decided to try another purchase.

After taking my AAA number she said I had already bought four.

I acknowledged that I had purchased last week, but wanted to get 4 more for niece and nephew graduations. Could she make an exception?

She hesitated... and said no.

They seem to be pretty strict about the 4 limit policy in Northern VA.

First post after lurking for a bit (and some admitted off-line spoon-feeding), figured I'd offer a quick data point so my introduction isn't some form of HELP ME! (that'll be posts, oh, 2-50 :p)

Bought 4 in MD last night, spilt between the Citi AA Exec and CSP. No issues, though it was my first time taking advantage of the promo, no 'warning' about CA charge, pending transactions suggest I'm in the clear on that. Added $1K to BB at WM today, machine had 'lane closed' (shock), went to MC.

Why yes, paying rent on credit without the 3% hit while working towards 100K AA miles is a nice feeling :D

Best first post I have seen in a while. Welcome to FT!

I stopped in my local AAA office, where I bought plenty during the holidays.

Lady was nice enough, and even remembered me from buying that lot (for my employees.. of my business).

Anyway, there is a note IN MY AAA ACCOUNT saying Metabank has requested to not sell gift cards to me. I of course feigned surprise and dismay and unhappiness. But frankly wasn't surprised. They cut me off at the holidays. I'm just surprised it is apparently a lengthy time blacklist!

Perhaps if I cancel AAA and buy a new membership, thus getting a new card, that would "reset" things... but is 17 years of AAA relationship worth saving <$20 fees?

If I may ask... how much did you purchase to earn you such a distinguished mention?

Found out I was "Banned" Today

So went to get purchase a giftcard today at AAA and the lady was very nice but said that she couldn't sell them to me. She was very apologetic but said she had received a call (didn't say from whom) not to sell to me because of fraud concerns. Between November and a few weeks ago. I have purchased a total of $4.5k (I keep good records), never more than a $1k in a week and fairly spread out (not always during the promotions). Cannot say I am surprised other than I see folks doing in a single day more than I have done across six months. I wasn't even very fast to liquidate recently because something came up at the last minute that required me to be out of town for several weeks so a couple of the cards sat with full balances for a while.

Like the poster above I may let my AAA lapse (unfortunately just renewed so won't be until next year) and see if that gets me off the bad boy/girl list. My advice is to hit this one hard and fast.

It is mostly that but there is one office near me coded as a travel service or some such.

There are some amounts quoted earlier in the thread from the last go round for me it was $4.5k total since November (2k of which was since this most recent deal started). Based on the amounts you have stated I am guessing your are headed for a ban (if it is based on volume which I am not sure that it is) so I'd hit it hard and fast while you still can is my advice.

You would lose certain benefits, like discounts in auto/renters insurance.

I've been a member for 24 years, but my membership temporarily expired during a NY > VA move.

When I signed up for insurance, I couldn't get the discounted rate based on long-term membership. IIRC, it was something like 5% for every 5 years.

Unfortunately, although they could see that I had been a member for 24 years, they wouldn't budge on the lapse: they still see me as a new member.

Maybe it's better to setup a throwaway account to save the $ on VGCs and get off the blacklist?

At the Tysons Corner (Vienna, VA) office they only accepted Visa and MC.
