What's value load? Did you buy it online or in the B&M club? Thanks

Value load is buying the initial card and loading it with funds. The card was bought in a AAA store.

Does anyone know if the TravelMoney cards work for MS? It says you can load them in a branch without a fee. If the cards are able to be loaded at a branch with a CC, then this might prevent the issue of buying multiple GCs. You buy the one card, then reload it. AAA lists the gift cards and travel money as two separate products. Anyone have experience with the Travel Money?

I was told that it was cash only at my local AAA location (NW PA).

The two Dallas, Texas AAA offices never heard of those gift cards.

On TX AAA site:
Visa Gift Cards are available for purchase online. When ordering online, you will leave the AAA Texas website and be redirected to MetaBank’s website. Visa Gift Cards are not available at AAA Texas branches.

My local AAA has the same no-fee gift card deal starting tomorrow, through Dec 31. Great way for some MS until you get shut down by Metabank!

They shut me down quickly the last time around, wonder if I am still on the list. Anyone have any experience with this? Does Metabank forget about old shut downs?

I got shut down last year (end of last year when they were doing the promotion) Last month (so about 9 months after the shut down), I bought a gift card at a different location. However, the "new location purchase" was without having a membership to AAA so I am not sure if that had something to do with it.

I purchased $5k at the store in Alexandria, VA today around noon. I called ahead of time and the person answering the phone had to check if the promo was running.

When I arrived the cashier wasn't clear on daily $ limits or number of times I could purchase. She said "it depends on if the bank clears you."

I tried 10 @ $500 and it went through. I'll try another store tomorrow.

What are the best cards to be used for GC purchase in AAA stores?

From my experience in the summer, they take any cards except Amex.

I was blacklisted at AAA 9 month ago. Can I go now to a different office to buy cards?

I was banned this time last year. I couldn't buy at any local office then or this past summer. Guess I'll try again, including trying "without" a membership.

How can you buy without membership?

I went today to get two cards and found out I had been shut down. I only bought the cards last winter (didn't participate in the May-June promo), maybe about 5-6K worth. Most cashed out via WM, not immediately but within a week of purchase. Never received a notice of a shutdown.

The AAA lady acted weird, saying she couldn't help me today. I thought their systems were down so I asked. That's when she dropped the dreaded "You'll need to call Metabank, I am seeing an alert on your account." She gave me the number, but I have no plans to call it.

So, it looks like once they shut you down, they shut you down for good...

I suppose the general strategy is to buy cards and hold off unloading them as long as possible. Although these days it's scarier to hold large quantities of gift cards.
