Bought 3K and another family member did 2k yesterday on same membership different AAA ID card. Lady said $9,999 was limit but didn't say weather it was daily, weekly, etc. How probable is it for Meta to close folks off from this even though my AAA store seemed friendly?

Very random. Your best bet is to call a local office and ask.

Ohio Valley is not running the promotion, just called and verified.

I'd be very skeptical that Meta would put any limits on this. Your local AAA office may have their own - if they're saying it's a 10K limit, I'd imagine that's per day - all the limits on GC purchases I've seen elsewhere are always per day.

In what part of the country are you so lucky to find this deal?

If I can do $9999 then it's time for me to join AAA.

I spread it out and made three visits to different locations over the last week so as to not roll in there and ask for 9k, figured that would sound the alarm. It takes them 7-9 minutes to do an order though as they have to activate each card by entering the # in their system, so I make it worth my time per order 3-4k. You also have to call the # and run through the automated system to set your PIN.

Well played. We're all envious!

I bought approximately $50K this month. No limit - the last purchase was $20k ($10K on two cards) earlier this week. Always bought at my local AAA office and they never questioned anything. One time I was told that only MC/VISA was accepted during the promotion. The other times no one cared that I used an Amex card. You are correct in that it is a slow process. I waited over 30 minutes while they activated the cards and it will probably take me another 30 minutes to call and set an initial PIN on each card, but overall still a very good deal. Too bad I don't have a card which includes AAA in a bonus category.

Note to self: next year, plan an extended visit to a relative that lives in one of these areas where this deal works.

I had a trip planned to Tampa, but it was canceled. I planned on cleaning up while I was down there.

A perfect destination for me in case I need a mileage run next year...thanks for the suggestion!

Hi, as per Freequent Miler, who was shutdown by Metabank (http://freequentflyerbook.com/blog/2...card-axe-falls), he recommends buying them slow and steady, (a few thousand $ at a time?) then unloading them fast, all at once, before a shutdown can happen.

Did you follow this, and ever get shutdown? Are you buying them fee-free now during the May-June 2016 promo period?

Thanks!

Got 2 yesterday, was told that's the max per member per promo period.

I bought anywhere from $5K to $10K at a time over a 3-4 weeks and usually unloaded them later in the week. Purchased through December and unloaded the last in January just before Serve shutdown.

I went to my local AAA office (South Florida - Auto Club South) in early May and was told that there was no promotion so $3.95 fee for up to $500 per VGC. I asked the clerk (who I had never seen before) if she would mine double checking because I had heard that Mid-Atlantic was doing so. She picked up the phone and called someone who confirmed there was no promotion and that they only did it during November and December. I am planning on stopping by again this week to see if perhaps things have changed.
