Just a couple of data points about my experience.
Husband went to local AAA in South Florida after calling to ask if they were doing the promotion. (yes ). Asked if there was a limit...said he wanted 8. They told him that was fine. A few days later...I went and did the same. No issues. About a week later we were in another city in So. Florida and decided to go to AAA there. Husband did 2K and I did 3K. Again- no problem...other than the slow process because they register each card. We had never bought GCs before from AAA...didn't even know they sold them. It all seemed so easy. Now after reading this thread, I am concerned about returning to buy more in December. |

Stopped by my local AAA today as I was making my rounds. Asked the cashier - do you sell Visa gift cards? At first she looked at me like I had 2 heads. I explained I had a buddy in another state who told me his local AAA office was selling Visa gift cards with no fees and it was a great deal.
She lit up: Oh yes, now I remember, we DO have those! I get excited and say, awesome I would like to get some, it'll help me take care of all my Christmas shopping early! How many can I get? She says, as many as you want! Now I'm getting pretty stoked. Great, I'll take TEN, with the full $500 each! She gives me a hard look. I assure her my credit card has enough credit to easily cover that. She blinks - credit card?! she asks incredulously... Of course, I reply. She looks doubtful, then says sadly. "We only accept cash for gift cards....and there's a $6.95 activation fee for each..." d'oh! |
Anyone seen a Citi Premier give 3x for purchases at an AAA in store or online?

Drove by my local office the other day and they had a sign out front for fee-free cards. Dropped in today and confirmed. Promo is 1 Nov to 31 Dec. This is SE Michigan. I was told no limit, CC ok... Picked up 2k worth today, already converted to MO.

Just called my local AAA. they said credit cards were go but that it some coded as cash advance. I guess its same rules as Buxx, some code as CA, most don't.

I'm in the area too... do I need to be a AAA member to purchase? |

Mid Atlantic seems to run this offer every year, and is advertising them again.
http://midatlantic.aaa.com/banking/visagiftcard What other regions are offering them? |

Very random. Your best bet is to call a local office and ask.

MIdatlantic AAA limits you to 1k per card member and they would NOT let me buy any more.

I wonder if you had a spouse on the account, if they could purchase another 1k.
