It will track at 2%, however, for mathematical purposes, 1.25% covers the cost of MS on GCM.

Stopped into my local branch today (Michigan) to ask about these as I have a couple cards I need to get min spend done on and free is good! Last year they were fee-free for Nov and Dec. Rep said starts Dec 1 this year. FYI.

Can you use all the major credit cards to buy their gift cards? I have some spend on an American Express card I need to satisfy.

BUYER BEWARE: some initial reports from DOC indicate the AAA GCs available this holiday season (11/25 - 12/25/16) are NOT PIN-enabled. Test with a small denomination before buying too much.

Any actual experience feedback appreciated.

Thanks for this, I plan to stop tomorrow afternoon. I'll start with 1 and see how it goes. Worst case I get rid of it at CVS for a VVGC.

Of course, these cards require the calling in to set the PIN, so it's also possible the user in question didn't do that...

Haven't purchased these in a bit since my local office went to "cash only"
Found AA office to the south of me (Thanks Dave) will accept CC payment.

Question: Are these "USPS-friendly" or "WM friendly"

Thanks in advance!

Are you guys able to use American Express? One location told me NO but a buddy said his location nearby gave him the OK.

shadow520 Dec 6, 2016 11:47 am

I used AMEX on Thursday.

I bought some of these cards and confirmed they do have PINS, but you just have to set it yourself, as usual. The other guy who claimed no PIN was a novice or trying to chase competitors.

Also ALL CCs are accepted, including AMEX.

THEORY to when AAA will NOT track your purchases / NOT limit you: IF you notice the clerk processes your CC on a DIFFERENT POS, that is not tied to their PC where they verify your membership status, then the invoice printed will NOT have your name on it ... and there will be no way for them to link your member # with the purchase, or track your "spending" activity. Some AAA stores process the GCs this way, some link the card to the member acct.

All I've ever seen is regular restaurant and shopping cards.
