Post # 1958 is about Variable load GC. They have generally not given fuel points except for very brief periods of time intermittently. The fixed value GC (Visa or MC) have generally always given fuel points but not this time. Hence, I was wondering if it is temporary glitch or a change in Safeway policy.

I've noticed two different design packages. The older design on the right does not give fuel points, but so far works for buying MOs. The new design on the left gives fuel points, but I'm having errors trying to buy MOs at Frys/Kroger that I must tender cash.

Dang I hadn't noticed the packaging. Confirming that the "plaid" package gave me fuel points this morning. Nice!

New game plan:

1. Buy the new design ones on the left to get the fuel points, and get in a different line and use it to buy the old design ones on the right to use for a PO MO.

2. Score gas points and PO friendly MCGC ^

Stopped by the Safeway across town(3 miles) from where I normally go, bought a $50 GC and the damn promo didn't ring up. I've had this exact same issue with the same store and these non-ad promos. Not sure if it was a fluke or if for some reason this store isnt part of the promo. No signage in store, manager was a miserable B, will have to figure out if it's worth my effort to get the $10.

Do you mean 50 or VR 500? I tried fixed 100 and it did not ring up. Can you PM the store location?

Any success getting this promo at a self serve register?

At my Safeway it works fine in the regular lines for the fixed value cards but the $10 discount will not pop up at a self service checkout. Proceeded with the transaction all the way to "swipe your payment card" but no joy.

My bay area store also gave $10 off on variable loads on the 8th, but did not work on the 10th. Might of been because I used the manned POS at the self service though.
