ID Flagged??

Some insight needed. Thanks.

So I have been MSing at CVS for only a month or so and have only done about 8K in that period. never went above 1500 in a day and always kept 2-3 days wait before going again.

Today, the computer at CVS told cashier that my ID was "flagged" and no gift cards could be sold to me. this was vanilla visa. Manager had no problem selling me but couldn't help as computer had rejected my ID. This was the same CVS that I visited yesterday but couldn't complete the transaction as my fraud alert took a bit to get cleared by CC company.

Was it just this store's computer acting weird. I doubt it, but never know. I know daily limit is 2k and people have been successfully buying gc even today.

Please help! CVS staff at this location is awesome and I would like to continue the relationship.

I've heard someone claim this before. Why would your ID be "flagged" for a monthly volume consistent with what many people do weekly for months on end? Before getting too worked up, try it out at a different CVS. Make sure it's been over 24 hours since you last purchased.

Its not a daily limit, its a 24 hour limit, your failed purchase probably counted for some reason

That's what I am thinking. I was aware of 24hr wait time but probably that failed purchase counted towards that. Will try tomorrow and update again.

I usually plan my CVS visits on an every-other day basis because of this issue. Even when I know it has been more than 24 hours since last purchase, I still got denied about 50% of the time. I have never had an issue when spacing out every-other day.

24 hours+15 minutes has been reliable for me 99% of the time.

Sorry for late update but that's what it was. Once a DL is swiped you have to wait minimum 24 hours even if transaction didn't go through for any reason. I am now able to buy without problem. Thanks all.

Some CVS's have variable Amexes for no fee this week. If you have one of them which do, and a way of offloading Amexes, this might be a good option. Even if you don't MS (with the death of Kate I've largely stopped) it's a great way of shifting existing spending to a higher category.

Can you provide a link to the CVS deal?
Thanks

It was an in store promo that expires Saturday. Only this store (Baldwin Park CA) had it marked; I went to another store that didn't and bought my usual OV VGCs instead (to max out Citi 5%).

Had something odd happen this morning at CVS. I noticed the chip reader was taking longer than normal, it then stopped and told me to remove my card. A small receipt printed that said something about a credit authorization and had a phone number. During this time my transaction stayed on the screen and was showing as still active. The manager came up and called the number and left the phone on speaker. It was an automated system and it asked for card number etc, then gave them a code. They went to the register and typed in the code and the transaction finished as normal. Has anyone else had this happen? I go to CVS daily and this is the first time.

It's happened to me a couple times before. It's an automated fraud detection system that only some financial institutions use. USAA was the one for my situation.

my ID mag strip actually rubbed off from so many swipes... so its 50/50 whether all my info actually gets picked up with the first swipe, meaning that the clerk has to manually enter all my info each time, which takes 2-3 minutes usually and the line behind me is never pleased :(

so I started avoiding CVSs that cant scan the barcode with the gun (gun scan always works perfect), because the mag strip method for me is crap
