Brain fart on my part. :D Yes, I would only need $403 since the first withdraw if free. I have tons of fee free ATMs nearby so I don't need to cover ATM fees except those that Amex charges for the subsequent withdraws.

10AFT's?? WOW, you've got a lot of help in this game!

I give my family members super cheap gas when a certain regional gas chain is running gas points on GCs. In return they let me use their SSNs to get prepaid cards.

Today I visited my local 24 Hr CeeVeeEs.

There was a store made sign on the front door to the effect that no gift card
sales between 11pm and 7 am.

No problem there.

THEN I get to the gift card rack.

There is another store-made sign. This one says:

"No gift card sales over $100"

Not good.

Not good at all.

They probably got burned recently. Went into my local DS to buy something and even though I shop there frequently the cashier and the manager extensively checked and double checked and triple checked my card, drivers license, and receipt (to make sure it used the same numbers and name as the card and DL). I was totally fine with it, but the manager said they had trouble a few days ago.... I was like hey, Ive been shopping here for years, all the cashiers know me, I dont mind if you quadruple check as long as you guys still sell to me!

Hope you have another store to frequent in the meantime :(

Probably put up by a FT MSer who is tired of finding all of the GCs sold out. Since he put it up himself, the cashiers don't know anything about it, and still sell him all he wants. :D

When you get to the register, there's a third sign, "Gift Card sales to last names A-M Mon, Wed, Fri.. N-Z Tue., Thu., Sat., Sun."

On the receipt it reads, "Gift cards sales must be validated by CVS President before use." :)

Well if this is true nationwide, it truly sucks.

chipcollector Sep 18, 2014 10:25 am

I'm not being funny at all.

Sorry.

To test the waters, I just came back from visiting a few more stores.

The first store had no signs posted, but cashier has been instructed to limit all card sales
to $100.

The next store also had no signs posted. Cashier then looked over at a note on the wall
which said to "call a manager on all gift card sales over $100"

Manager (really just another employee I think) walks over, looks at my DL and CC and said "OK" it's fine...go ahead.

So maybe its just in my area of Southeast FL.

Stopped at WG, bought VGC for $500 no issue.

LOL. You right. I deserved that.

I live in Palm Beach County and purchased 2K no problem at 12:00. There were no signs and One Vanillas were not hard coded at the register.

If it were true nationwide, it wouldn't be a single sign, handwritten in crayon, posted at a single store. And eleventy-seven other people would have posted about it by now. ;)

Does anyone figure out yet why it takes that long for cvs transaction to post using wf card? My WF promo is expiring in next couple of days and the only place I can use $5k in one visit is cvs so thinking about going full throttle.

RA posts a day sooner.
