I did note yesterday that they were down to less than 20 of the gold packages.

CVS is always full of OVs here, Walgreens tends to have few since they started with them.

My most convenient CVS, right next to work, has been dry of OVs for the last few weeks. Happily, between work and home, or work and WM, I can stop by about 8 other CVS stores and by the third stop I usually have a fat stack of OVs to unwrap.
Lots of RA and WG near me too, but they either have 1k limits or take cash only.

I have 4 CVS in my proximity and 3 of them has this issue... In the past never seen this. Always plenty of 4.95 were available.

All fine in Manhattan NYC.

There are plenty of places to cash out Vanillas. No need to spread the panic.

None of those ways are as easy as WM.

Even if my MS volume goes way down, I won't miss the WM employees at all. The CVS folks are usually pretty good, though. Hopefully they stay in the game a while longer.

Some would argue that any way to avoid WM is easier than via WM. But WM is certainly one of the cheapest routes.

Starting to weed out those who can truly afford MS and those who cannot.

Even if this one method is gone...we will still be in WM 6-7 days a week and luckily we have a wonderful group of MC employess to deal with.

Those changes are here to stay. Doesn't mean there aren't ways around it tho...

Interesting data point?

I was able to buy MO from WM yesterday.. but only after a series of learning steps.

For OV I attempted to purchase 2 MOs for $1000 each. I informed cashier as always that I'll be paying with 4 debit cards and $500 on each. NO problem there. She did her thing on her end and I swipe on my end. I was able to use the other three VGCs no problem but the OV had a bit of a hiccup.

The OV would default to credit payment and would not allow me to change or cancel payment type. Their screen moves fast and won't allow any manual intervention on our end. I confirmed with the cashier if she had typed DEBIT on her end by pressing the BLUE debit button..she said YEP.

We tried about ten times and still no go. After which I decided to let other customers behind me to go before me so I could try again after everyone has left. ( I don't like it when others are standing in line behind me and I'm dealing with $1000 transactions. )

Anyways we tried a few more times and no luck. The WM system would default to CC without allowing me to change manually.

So I thought I changed things a bit. Instead of buying $1000 MO I asked the cashier to try $500. And it worked!!!!!

ANd then I tried again for $1000.... NO GO.

ANd then I tried again for $500..and it worked again!

So perhaps the "new" WM registers are designed to allow only $500 MO purchases with OVs?

Another speculation is that the new registers will allow only one OV cards to be used per MO transaction?

This has not happened at other WM locations.. only at the one I was at. All the other WM locations near me seem to have had no issue.
