I'm envious of all those folks that can get good GCs at gas stations. The Speedways out here pulled all of those cards.

Correct, when you check the balance, it will say there is no record of the card number. I have learned to verify all card balances before going to wash them. As stated before, it is also good sense to save the outer packaging and use your own method to link the actual card to its appropriate packaging in case the need arises to open a claim if a card isn't properly activated.

At the least check your receipt for the correct # of activations. Last week I couldn't get Kate to take one of my OVs. Odd, since she is usually so reliable. I called in and the automated system wouldn't accept the card number as valid. It kept asking me over and over "what is the card number"? Just an endless loop that went nowhere.

I had to use the number from a different OV to get the chance to even talk with a CSR. He told me the problem OV had never been activated. I checked my CVS receipt, and although I had handed the CVS cashier 8 cards, and he handed 8 back to me, he had only activated 7 of them. I should have noticed my cost was @$4500 instead of @$5K but didn't. So no money lost, but had to make another trip to Kate to meet my monthly BB balance.

To add to this, when you try to check the balance online, it returns with a "System Error. Please try later" message. If you try via the phone system, you get the endless loop others have described. I memorized the menu prompts: press 1 for English, wait for marketing schpiel, press 0 for operator, wait for marketing schpiel, press 0 for operator again.

I have had cards show as activated (and paid for!) on the receipt and when I went to verify the balance, they had actually not been activated. Something to keep in mind...it shocked me the first time it happened, but now I am more vigilant with verifying the balance and saving the packaging.

Yah. I kept my 3 packaging, but didn't linked them to the cards....

The Incomm person found the S/N on her system, so I didn't need to try to figure out which card went with which packaging.

Shoutouts to cdancer20 for the protip up thread about CVS registers being smart enough to auto-drain :)

Just unloaded a bunch of smaller denom AGCs for VGCs.

Didn't have to tell the cashier anything about splitting payments or how many cards I was gonna use. And maybe she didn't care either as she just let the computer do it's thing.

Does anyone know if registers @ Wags, gas stations like Valero and grocery stores like Kroger are smart enough to do that?

Glad things worked out for you! And to think that someone yelled at me for even suggesting that all CVS registers do this (b/c their sole area doesn't support it lol). Anyways glad that it helped you.

I am in Chicagoland, all the WAGs I shop can auto drain. But they have gone through so many phases of upgrade with their POS system, some stores may be slight different though.

When one does split payment with multiple AGCs at CVS, does the cashier have to enter the last 4 digits after each AGC swipe? I assume they have to but wanted to verify.

They have to enter the last 4 digits for any and all credit cards. And yes it will be after each swipe. You always will have to sign each time no matter how much.

Lol, if you think I was yelling at you you need a thicker skin. I mearly pointed out that your statement that ALL CVS autodrains was inaccurate. And its not just my sole area, I know several people in varying other states that have the same issue.

Actually it didn't hurt my feelings or anything so no need for thicker skin. I actually don't recall ever saying ALL CVS in the OP. Just CVS in general. Your comment was that some don't support it which is fine but it was just too long of a convo between us to go through when the majority (as you also stated) do support it and it's worth trying in your area. So it's all good. No hard feelings. In the end, someone did learn something new from my post and I learned something from yours.

Moderator, please remove this sickening display of niceness. No place in this forum for this sort of sentiment.

Sorry to hear that you had a problem with my comment. I like being nice from time to time.
