And others are taking the CC asking to see the last four digits after I swipe the card , another asked for ID. At one that said cash only she said her manager got a memo from corporate saying cash only to help avoid fraud.. |

This. Building a rapport is huge in this game. My CVS has asked me what I do with all the GCs I buy. I explained it to them in a simplified format. Their response? "This seems like a pain in the ...." :D

I just wanted to get some feedback on what I've been doing to buy OV with AGC. I've only been doing MS for about 2 months, and buying OV's with AGC's about a month or so. I can't complain about my area. CVS stores are all over the place, and 80% of them let me turn a $500 AGC into a OV even without personalization. But all my stores require them to ask to see the card and enter the last 4.
A few seemed like it did not bother them one bit, but most seemed a little uneasy about it being a gift card. I knew it looked odd to be buying a gift card with a gift card, so if they seemed uncomfortable I'd say something like I got this but I really need to use it somewhere that only takes visa. Or I can pay my rent with a visa card, so I wanted to convert it. But they clearly wanted something to match my ID against, and I had no luck with getting any of the personalized AGC orders approved for whatever reason. So the last couple times I have brought in the packing slip from the AGC's so they can match the name and address to my ID, and even the card number if they so desired. That seemed to put the CSR at ease and it was no problem to buy 1,000 at a time. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Will being this upfront about purchasing the AGC's myself come back to bite me or other MSers. I haven't gotten any questions on why I buy large gift cards for myself, but I imagine I will one day. |

ID is always asked for on $1000 and above and last four are always needed by the cashier...nothing new or worrisome. At least that is the case at every CVS I have purchased OV at.

I've found that some stores automatically ask for ID when I show them the OV cards (or a card), regardless if the computer prompts them to or not. So with that, I assume that those employees don't know that the ID limit >$999. If they are scanning it when you only purchase $500, that is another issue.
And sometimes it's just to check your name on the CC. |

I know if I was the one doing a sale for $5K, I'd want to make sure the cc wasn't stolen. They frequently check the DL and CC to match the names, but never swipe until the computer tells them to. I want to do everything I can to make them comfortable selling me $5K over and over. ;) |

CVS limit 7 swaps per transaction
Tried to liquidate 8 AMEX gift cards into two OV cards today at CVS, and found out that there is a maximum limit of 7 swipes per transaction. Beyond that, the system does not even allow cash to cover the remaining balance. The manager came and informed me no gift card allowed to buy OV and void the whole transaction. I remember there was info for number of swaps per transaction in the old wiki page. This is useful information. Now I have to wait for AMEX to release the hold.
