I took a photo of the rack code and the memo code but it made no difference.

I will admit to arguing with a different manager yesterday lol. She didn't even give me the chance to mention that OV wasn't on the list. She just said cash only and walked away. I was trying to talk to her but she just kept walking. I wasn't sure if she turned me away b/c I had a non-personalized Amex GC or if it was the policy but it seems like she misunderstood the policy. I was a little mad that she wouldn't even talk to me but I just walked out and went right down the road to the next CVS.

Complain to corporate, "the manager just walked away when I was trying to talk to her". She can hear from them.

The thing is it doesn't matter what is on the memo. Individual store managers can and do make unique policies for their individual stores. Some CVS locations have been cash only for the past year or two. She probably turned away and kept walking because she is tired of arguing with all of the folks that came in before you with the same line about "not on the memo". ;)

I haven't been going thru this thread lately, but is cash only policy for all CVSs now or is it store specific? I went to last week and it was cash only.

Thanks

Many are still CC on certain cards... I have 5 that I hit and they are ok with CC and one that is not..

Did they switch to a rolling 24hr on limits? Just got declined trying to buy 2k, saying my 5k limit already reached, try again tomorrow. The last time I was at CVS was yesterday around the same time, maybe even earlier. Possible glitch?

Which certain cards? I only tried VR and it didn't work.

Got the same error today while trying to buy. Looks like they updated their systems to enforce the 24 hours now.

Well isn't that special.

If you are going to not check in on a thread for a long time, when you return you really need to check the Wiki before you start asking questions.

VR have been cash only nationwide for some time now. At most CVS locations you can still buy OV cards, which allow you to set a pin on first use for Bill Pay, and loading BB, at WallyMart. As usual, YMMV because a few individual locations are cash only.

I invite you to go back 15 or 20 pages on this thread and start reading to bring yourself up to date. ;)

With regard to using OV to pay Bills (such as the CC purchased with) has anyone gotten away with doing $10k a month per card and then paying that card off via BillPay at Wallyworld?

If you really need to buy more than $5K in one day, here is something that worked the last time I tried it, which was a couple weeks ago. The computer is programmed to ask to swipe your drivers license if you buy $1K or more. So when you've done your $5K at one store, at the next store you can buy two VGCs, with $500 on the first one, and $499 on the next one. Buying $500 with one cc, then $500 with a different cc, works well too.

Staying under $1K per purchase, the computer will not ask the clerk to swipe your license, and unless they figure out why the odd amount and decide to intervene on their own, you should be fine doing this at store after store. Shhhh...

This doesn't scale well. Repeating ~$500 charges will definitely result in fraud alert/block. YMMV of course.

Sure have... :D

Got my AA Exec card with $10K minimum spend, and a $20K CL. Bought $5K OV at CVS on day one. Repeated that on day 2. Waited a couple of days for the charges to post, then went to 5 WMs one after the other, and paid off $1998 at each one. Made a @ $110 payment from my checking account to finish off the balance, and entire minimum spend was done and paid off in less than a week. One less thing to have to worry about... :p

I don't know if that's true or not. It probably depends on your bank, and your history with them. Besides, when I mentioned individual charges of $500, that was for different ccs.

Nevertheless, I wasn't recommending this as a way to "scale". That's why I said "If you really need to buy more than $5K in one day". We only did it once, when my SO just wanted to do $6K to finish off a minimum spend and be done with it.

For anyone doing massive MS for profit, instead of mere cc churning, this would be too labor intensive anyway. And of course, you'd run out of stores..
