I think it is your judgement call. Yesterday I was told "Those are cash only" I said "No, they aren't" And he said "Look I have a memo" and I explained OV != whatever is on the memo, so he tried it and of course it works. With someone much more sure of themselves, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

But I really do think CVS isn't like say Walmart, staff there, in general, seem to have more autonomy and willingness to try things. In general, not universally.

I wonder how big of change to monthly cash flows for the stores I frequent have occurred since this policy.

I'm still in my "info gathering" phase of MS so I have never purchased a VR, but I had never even seen one on the racks at any of my nearby CVS (West LA) til just the other day, fully stocked. Got excited (didn't try to buy any) but now I see why. Too bad!

While I was buying $5K of OV in one of my favorite CVSs today, I noticed both that there was a thick stack of VRs on the rack, and there was a printed out copy of the infamous new policy email taped to the rack.

Anyone able to buy gift cards at Walmart today? Went to two Walmarts, both did not accept my credit card, tried 2 different cards at one store that worked a few days ago. Hopefully it's just something temporary.

Yes, the clerk at CVS told me they've had quite a few people buying VR's with cash. Unfortunately, they were all using counterfeit money. :D

That's what you get for sitting around and "gathering info."

Be careful with OV you bought

Went to CVS get 2 OV the other day. Saw the post about someone used razor opens it up and glue it. so I kind of very careful to look at package before purchase, I don't see anything wrong with the ones I pick. at check out, somehow the 2nd card doesn't ring through so the clerk gets another card to finish the transaction. the clerk chat with me a bit after purchase until next customer to check out. because of that chat, I forgot to verify the last 4 digits of activation on receipt to match the card I have right at that moment. while i stop in traffic, I think about it and verify it. the 2nd card that doesn't match. go back to store. was wondering if it somehow activates the card that first time scanned. go through all OVs, not seeing it. CVS called OV bank to put stop payment on that 2nd card. was told they will refund money back to CVS, not to customer. so now I have to dispute the charge with my CC, for half of them. I don't know how long this mess can really be resolved. Be aware about this. even if you have carefully inspect the package, something can still happen. At this point, I think the clerk gets me a package that has been opened by someone.

the same happen to me with VR. never trust the old switcheroo. in my case any way, luckily the cashier just put the activated ones behind the counter, so it wasnt a scam or anything like that.

LOL. Seen so many complaints on this forum about noobs jumping in too quick and ruining it for the rest, so I take my time to educate myself, and then you say I should have jumped in earlier.
