Can't wait until OVs are in short supply and I have something else to look for hidden in the gift card racks.

Can I prove it? Of course, not. They are not idiots, all those people we're playing games with.

Very true! Not to mention that it's pretty interesting how the memo stated 03/31 and had all of us running around like chickens with our heads cut off but then the actual BIG change was not until 4 days later. I know personally, that I would have done things differently had I know I had 3 more days.

wonder how many would get FR'd due to the recent shopping spree....lol

Word on the street is that Emily is filing for divorce from DD over this whole CVS cash only fiasco. Women...smh.

crimsonred Apr 3, 2014 9:05 pm

Tried all places in Berkeley, CA, all cash only.

LOL I been wondering the same thing about myself. I have only had my WF & Blue Cash for 2 weeks and I'm already at the top of my CL of both. 2 fraud alert calls from them too. Both times it has been for my purchases at "a pharmacy".

I'm really curious if I should even TRY to go to a 24 hr CVS to retry Serve loading at midnight.

Chicago stores are still allowing cc as of 3 minutes ago. Visited several stores in the south suburbs. I thought tonight would be the big finale, but I'm waking up early tomorrow to see if there will be an encore performance.

Very encouraging! I'm waiting until 11p CDT when the Serve clock resets to try to do one last load on 3 serve cards at a CVS in the western burbs that was still taking CC at 7:05p tonight, which is just after the time when the CVS clock was to have reset.

Just a reminder: VRs aren't dead. The days of 5k at a time without a second thought may be over, but there are definitely still places to get them with a CC. I discovered 3 new locations near me today.

It all comes down to this: not everywhere that sells VRs is listed on the VR website. But if you look at the places they do list (https://www.vanillareload.com/index.php/where-buy), it becomes obvious pretty quickly what types of stores are most likely to carry them. Go to other stores of those same types, and see if they have them. If they do, try to buy one with CC. It's as simple as that.

This may not be much use to you serious MSers, but for those of us who just do it to help meet minimum spends or something like that, it's plenty.

There was one large brand store I was shopping at the other day and I noticed its gift card rack was all in a mess. Cards scattered all over the floor and one particular spot with three empty spots.

Looked closer and noticed that it had a VR logo on it. Next time I'm back I'll see if there's any in stock and if I can use my credit card.

Whoa whoa whoa thar pardner...that's fur enuff

Data pt: still alive at 9 PM EDT tonight in SWFL. Cashier said "cash only", I asked her to try (just 1K) and it went through. Other cashier said she'd get in trouble because she signed this memo, and I looked at it, and said "it says 4/4", and #2 was all like, 'that's when we were supposed to have signed it by'. So, I hope she doesn't lose her job over it on my 1K account. At that #1 says, "it's ok, i've got another job." Which, hats off, girlfriend. I'd sure hate to have TrollsDakota come back to find you in a pool of blood.

Crossing my fingers! It seems like we're the last major market to go to a hard code. Keep me updated.

Yeah, I was hoping that wasn't too much. I felt the need to share, since I've learned so much around here. But I also felt like burying it late at night, in an incredibly fast-moving thread, was in the true spirit of FT. No circles and arrows here. Read the thread.
