Can we be friends?

No - it's coming from someone who realizes that the pimps are the bane of the hobby - they've turned what was supposedly a "blog for friends and family" into into a money grubbing business - where nothing will stop their pimping if it means they might miss out on a conversion.

So until people vote with their feet and stop clicking on affiliate links, and start realizing that they are being ripped off and manipulated, the pimps will continue over exposing things - simply to get another buck in their pocket.

Sadly, the hard coding will happen at 5:20 AM EST.

for those blaming the blogs, you do realize that we have a "manufactured spending" section in FT in which CVS has its own master thread..if this is really dead many of us just have as much to blame for it as the bloggers do. I just bought $2k worth in DC without a mention though :D i smell an elaborate and cruel April fools joke here

Nobody can predict the market with 100% certainty but you can find an "edge" that tilts things in your favor.

As my first trading mentor told me " the secret to keeping your edge.... is to keep your edge a secret.". Quite literally in trading circles the more people that know and use a specific strategy, the sooner it will cease to work. That's the definition of an edge. And once the edge no longer makes money consistently through trading.... The only way it makes anybody any money is by some guru selling it to the masses with all the past history showing how well it worked.

And that's where the real money can be.... Setting up on the opposite side of the trade. If you know a million ppl all saw the same thing and will attempt the same move it is ridiculously easy to make money off that.

There's a fine line between building a helping community and guiding a herd that will trample anything in its path. This is very much the same with MS.

I agree with most of what you said. Except the pimps piously claim they aren't the problem - that their incessant exhortations to "click this link" to sign up for XYZ card du jour (based on whatever card is paying highest affilate fees) isn't over exposing these techniques. It would be one thing if the pimps were truly doing it for "friends and family" with no financial self interest as so many love to proclaim, but it's clear that it's all a cynical ruse to line their pockets as fast as they can, friends and family be damned.

You "realize" without proof. I'm sure some are money grubbers, just as many who've attacked them here have shown that same trait, but a broad-brush condemnation amounts to bigoted thinking.

How many of them do you actually know? How can you know their motivation? I'm guessing none for the first question and the answer to the second is obvious -- you can't.

Bought 5K in DC around 12:30. Mentioned to the Assistant Manager (when asked why I was buying more than the usual) that I heard a rumor they were going to cash only. He looked at me like I had 3 heads and said "First I've heard." All front line employees and managers seem to know exactly what we buy them for and typically could care less.

The funny thing is that DC and the inner suburbs have been pretty hit or miss over the last year, but in the last month or two virtually every CVS has been really well stocked. Even with a huge rush today (I bought 10K) there have been plenty of VRs everywhere I've gone. Count me confused...
