^I think that's a good idea but do not be argumentative, hang up and redial until U find the one who says what U like, do not record yet, then get specific about the store and give address have them speak to the manager, If it goes your way call back and ask if you can get policy emailed to U for other stores when U come across one.
I am not very optimistic but U will have clarification, I think corporate has given each manager discretion about these matters (imho). Suggestion: we can create/have a list somewhere of such stores! (blacklist) |

I am going to call CVS corporate tomorrow and record the phone call and get them to give me a straight up answer. Will obviously inform them I am recording the call, and will post it here if I get a good answer from them.

No worries I am not calling. Also I doubt CVS cares considering they raised the limit from 1k to 5k. But again, Im not calling anymore.

The store manager or cashier doesn't feel comfortable doing a perfectly reasonable and legal transaction, so go somewhere where the people are. You're not doing anything illegal by buying $500 in Bluebird with a credit card, but the store might feel reasonable in not selling it to anyone. Perhaps the manager got chewed out for a stolen card transaction and is clamping down on everything he can think of. The potential reasons are ... infinite. Why waste your time when they're in their right to deny this kind of transaction and there are places which will sell it to you? |

Sadly its often store or manager or clerk centric
You could get one with a cc at another cvs and then show the receipt to this cvs but they may say something totally annoying and wrong like, well they are doing it wrong and our policy is no cc. Or they could be like one cvs i have in my town where they are convinced it breaks federal law to sell over $1k vr or gc per person per day. I showed them a $5k receipt (yes im doing them now) and the clerk said the above comment... Well that store and any like it is breaking state law! I said, I thought you said federal. Her reponse; same thing sir. Next I left and just dont visit that store unless i just need like one |

Cvs knows what is going on but i think in some ways they let us live if we dont bicker to them too much.
But i wouldnt bother calling cvs on that store. They will likely tell you it diverts to the mgr or dist mgr and their own decision which you already know. Just go elsewhere for they are dumb and cant change. Calling could only give reason to make it worse Yes i went to $5k purchases at the stores that will let me. I do far more gc than vr but after months of watching the new higher limit and not yet seeing issues with it other than at a few stores, there have been no customer complaints about any adverse actions for doing multiple $5k transactions on a weekly and almost daily basis. Well maybe we will all get hit with some hefty 1099x in jan lol |

Do you genuinely believe that a corp as big as CVS has no idea this is going on?

Way back in this thread, I think someone posted the actual ppt that was sent to CVS from corporate on the $5k limit.

Does anyone know if there is an official (Hopefully published) Policy from CVS on selling Vanilla Reload cards?
Every time I go the manage refuses to sell me Vanilla Reloads with credit card, but is willing to sell me Vanilla Visa GC with a CC. Any ideas on official corporate policy? |

I think its like when kids are acting up on the school bus and the driver says, ok, the next kid who says a word will be reported directly to the principals office when we get to school and Ill report this whole bus too.
Then he makes a stop to let on more kids and as one is walking down the aisle to get to a seat, some kid sticks his foot out to trip him and the newly boarding kid says, "hey you!" And the bus driver says, "ok! Thats it! YOU!" And he points to the newly boarding kid who is now in trouble. |
Better to NOT be that kid. And as horridly wrong and unfair the bus driver may be, thats the rules of the day in his bus, and so it may be best to play to the max within them.
Better to be a quieter kid in the back of the bus happily bouncing with others than to try and stick out. |
