I understand that. My concern was that I would load new funds and they would be frozen because the card was "suspended" a long time ago.
Like I said if you can float the fund, it is no big deal, just a little hassle. If you cannot, then it is a whole different ball game. Nobody should be into this if they cannot float some amount because this is not without risk. Anything can happen, including a bad VR, fund on VR being stolen, etc Haven't we seen enough reports on such? They all are sorted out at the end but takes time. |

Are all the shut downs associated with CA's or were some for debit PIN transactions? I haven't done any CA's yet.

NOT the balance, but the Account Status, you know, that little thing on the right top corner - that is where you should check before you head out to the bank. If it is not "Active", you are toast.
What is the status said now? Or you could not even log in? If I do not care to reopen the account, will they mail me the check for balance and close the account? anyone has done this? I don't like when anyone takes over the control of my money, struggle to get it back? happened with WF, tired, not worth the MS. VR-BB in that respect seems OK |

I can confirm this. It is still being used to load and unload (but via MO instead of CA).

Visiting FL from MA...taking advantage of Amscot...
Hi All--Just curious if anyone that has been on vacation in FL has tried getting a few thousand $ in free Amscot money orders. Wondering if it'll fraud alert since I'm a long way from MA which is the only place I've ever used my MVD in my two months of ownership. Done about 5-6 $3k to $5k CA at a couple of banks, done a $4k debit card transaction and bought one MO at my local USPS.
Don't wanna get my beloved MVD red flagged or shut down by trying out Amscot but I was thinking maybe some MO to mix up all of my CA activity might be wise as I've probably pushed through $30k so far in 2 months. Any advice within the next 3 days while I'm in FL would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
My account was reopened today after I submitted the requested information. It says active now. I was calling in to followup and the automated system reported my balance, which it didn't before when the account was suspended. I then logged in online. I don't know if the account is permanently active or only temporarily.
I'm glad I was able to submit the receipt for some of the loads or it would probably have taken a lot longer to get access to the funds. I had to go digging through the trash to find the receipt. |

Does not make any difference. They make more money at $1.95 per transaction on CA versus the debit card transaction at $0.50 only. You save more fee with CA on amount $3K and above versus the MO route.

Huh? I'm not sure I understand you. The latest data points show that accounts are still being shutdown because of unloading via CA.
CA itself does not seem to be the particular trigger. We are all just guessing and speculating but in all reality, it could be something totally unrelated. Who knows. |
Not sure how to read this
Went to Wal-mart to get a MO. Got the following message
"Debit not available APPR. Code = 57". Checked online, account status is active. |

Is it possible you could have reached the weekly/monthly/annual PIN debit transaction limit?

Mine still shows as active as well, but I just attempted to do a CA and it didn't go through. It came back with an error code the bank manager had never even seen before, but different than 57. I'm guessing it was an error code specific to CAs. I'm wondering if there are currently problems going on at MVDs end. |
