NY >
RC BP - club liberty suite from $1395 (next = ritz carlton suite)
MO - premier central park suite from $1595 (next = 2BR taipan suite)

now is the time for cent cardholders to try negotiating on things like higher than usual confirmed upgrades.

signature (like virtuoso) also offers confirmed upgrades at some NY properties.

website booking agent

what, if any, website do you think is best to get the best rates on a FS or Ritz? Or what is the best way to snag the best room in the hotel without paying for that room type?

Divert the housekeeping staff and then run into the Presidential Suite when they are not looking. Works like a charm!

Seriously, just search around these threads a little for tips on FS & Ritz Hotel upgrades.

We have had good luck with AMEX FHR. We often get upgraded at least one category. Virtuoso travel has some great upgrades as well. DavidO who is a regular contributor to this forum is a virtuoso agent.

Amanyara

Received an email today that Amanyara is throwing in free meals for stays of four nights. I never really looked into this property before and not sure if the $1500 rates for the pavilions are normal and these are truly free perks, or if they increased the costs of the pavilions to account for this.

Amanresorts did not increase the rates for Amanyara and these are genuinely free perks.
Theres a couple of Aman threads with more specific information on Amanyara if you are tempted.

I mentioned this offer in the RC Tokyo thread, but for those who didn't see it, the Pen in Tokyo has 2-4-1 rates loaded on Deluxe Suites and Executive Suites all thro' 2009. This brings an Exec Suite down to 50,000Y per night (+15% tax/service), which laughably is less than a deluxe room at the Pen and less than ANY room at the MO for the dates in May I'm travelling. The rate only comes up if you try to book 2 nights only.

Just booked a deluxe suite for the last weekend in may. Wonder if they will still upgrade me like the last few times I have stayed there. Although this deal isnt as good as it was a year ago with the Yen/$ ratio. Hopefully they wil have this in November when I hope to check out the Pen Shanghai!
