Bangkok is no longer ESPA, and Beverly Hills and Manila have never had ESPA treatments. Otherwise all other Peninsula hotels to my knowledge use ESPA.

So they just keep ESPA for Paris, easy enough

Some of their hotels also offer chemical free and/or locally produced products as an alternative. In my opinion spas should offer these options as well, instead of forcing all guests to have treatments with only one line of products.

Paris is following Shanghai's example with ESPA flanked by Biologique Recherche but I guess they weren't confident enough to do the treatment for my wife? That's okay because you can go to the Chez Biologique Recherche in Saint Honore anyway.

We had the opportunity to visit the Peninsula Paris tonight. We saw the swimming pool, Lobby restaurant, Lili restaurant, l'Oiseau Blanc, the bar, the cigar lounge and one premier suite.

Public spaces have been beautifully restored (the decor of Lili is quite spectacular) but Lobby restaurant feels a bit odd (people crossing this huge dining room right at the entrance of the building makes the venue not very welcoming).

I was also disappointed with the premier suite. It was a 100 sqm suite at the 5th floor quoted 3,500 EUR a night. Lot of "lost" space in corridors, resulting in a small but very nice bedroom with walk-in dressing area leading to an equally small bathroom. The seating room was dark (1 window only with no view) and it felt quite generic. Lot of well thought details but overall the suite lacks the wow factor to make me pay such a rate.

It was just a visit not an actual stay so I cannot say anything about service. But we heard some bad comments especially about restaurants. My preferred choices remain Park Hyatt & Shangri-La.

I'll second the vote for Le Bristol! Excellent location, spacious rooms, super family-friendly. And from October 27-March 31, 2015, there's a Virtuoso promotion available for 4th night free, combinable with Virtuoso amenities.

Virtuoso Amenities for 2014 & 2015~
* Upgrade at time of booking, subject to availability (up to deluxe Junior suite. Higher categories are on arrival, subject to availability)
* Daily full breakfast, for up to two in room guests at their Bar or in their main restaurant Epicure.
* $100 USD Spa Services credit, to be utilized during stay (not combinable, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
* Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
(Amenities not available with 6+ room group bookings)

Rooftop pool, large rooms, and ideal for moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas and kids of all ages, especially young ones. Guaranteed connecting rooms at time of booking. Unique welcome amenities for kids (even a treasure hunt for them).

Their in-resident cats are gorgeous and they add a special warmth to the property. I delight in having pets as a member of a hotel family.

Included in these photos are some of the kids activities:

I have been staying at the GV since it re-opened 15? years ago and love it. However, I walked over to The Peninsula this past Sunday and took a tour. It does lack the warmth of the GV. The rooms are typical Pen. Large bathrooms and closet and lots of tech. They used a lot of dark, polished wood in the rooms. It did not make me want to leave the GV and give it a try but certainly a nice property. The the Pen, the Shangri La (asking the same rates as the GV and Pen) and the Ritz and Crillon coming back on line during the next 12 months, Paris will certainly be packed with many top luxury hotels.

It's got my vote and I haven't even been a guest yet. Just a fortunate and blown away patron at Epicure!

Another great stay at the PH Vendome this past weekend--the Park King Suite is wonderful, service was again amazing, and our stay was pretty much perfect yet again.

We had an incredible first dinner (15 course "inspiration" tasting menu with wine pairings) at Guy Savoy--highly recommended if you have the 4+ hrs to enjoy such a divine meal. The wine pairings were tremendous, as well, and I judge that tough, so kudos.

We also went a bit out to L'Assiete, a quaint but nice modern bistro in the 14th (I think) based on some local reviews and other commentary. Was splendid, quaint, and classic French.

Also had a lovely lunch in the MO courtyard. Service was a bit slow, and they did mix-up our coffee order a bit, but I always enjoy the ambience there at the MO.

Intended to check out the Pen but never made it. Too much shopping and dining. :-)

Waiting for his - delayed - installation at Hôtel de la Monnaie, which might be one of the most beautiful places in Paris for fine dining.

Out of interest, is LVMH/Cheval Blanc development of Samaritaine building completely dead?
