All Amanpulo villas , including the new ones , are spoken for
Perhaps check out N'oi if interested in purchasing villas in the region , as more are being built FYI, the Pulo treetop pool casitas have tree top views , of course , with slivers of the ocean from the deck . While from beach casitas , one gets sea views from inside the casita & even from the bed ;) |
Ready to see what the new year brings. ^

There are always regular celebrity guests around New Year/Christmas holiday period at Amanpuri though - usually just guests of villa owners. |
invited by new aman corporate ownership, i am hearing from a source. sounds like GUWonder guessed right, and his guess was in line with his previous statements.

Hopefully these new ones really get the Aman ethos soon . Amanjunkies can then sigh with relief & breathe normally again ;) Villa owners often invite guests , even when they are not in or staying . These guests usually get what Aman is about sooner than later .. Found this in another thread where the students can be likened to new corporate ( consultants ) :( Or perhaps the Hispanics to ex or experienced Aman alum ;) Still haven ' t figured out how to quote directly from another thread !

When Amangani first opened there were lots of service issues because they hired local staff that consisted mainly of students that did not understand or appreciate the Aman way of doing things. Since then, service has improved because Aman are now hiring Hispanics who appreciate the work much more and have a better understanding of hospitality. .. |
Any updates/thoughts on the strike at Amanbagh (other than it is ongoing)? Does anyone know what the issues are or speculate about the short to medium term impacts?

Strikes at Amanbagh have become an annual event, normally timed for salary-rise time or as a form of entertainment after the annual harvest. I hear that staff did not get raises in October 2014 and were told to wait until January. Apparently, this did not occur, so staff went on strike, presumably believing that Aman would have to give them raises as the resort had a lot of bookings. The staff demands increased and became more unrealistic by the day and I hear, too, that there were threats to management, to the extent that many had to move to Jaipur in order to ensure their safety. It looks as though this most recent event will damage Amanbagh seriously, not only in terms of profits but also in image terms, especially with travel agents. Amanbagh has brought tremendous prosperity to this region. I have met many staff members who were taught to drive, read, speak English, learn spa techniques etc. by Aman - all of which have helped them build new homes and lead a considerably more prosperous life. Sadly, nobody seems to be too grateful for this. Amanbagh is one of the most tranquil and beautiful resorts I know, although it seems as though an undercurrent of violence lies just beneath the surface. |
That's terrible to hear.
