interesting, found a proposed 9 room luxury boutique hotel in rome
presumably they could never get funding/approval for construction
L’angolo di San Pietro, with rooftop suite with "view" of St Peter's
"Via Stazione Vaticana 1" site is only 300m walk to St Peter's

looking at map, noticed hotels across from vatican museum entrance
some might have restaurants that open early, for before museum

seems 'the point' for shanghai is that there is space outside 'city'
but these projects, especially aman, probably arent about hotel revenue

rosewood is doing a lot of buying, and is less of a small/new chain
major chains are less interested in these kinds of properties
(unless some of the locations do work for business travelers)

edit - aman and capella are not 'outside' city like ahn luh is

It's much too big for Tuscany, especially when you compare it to the region's current high-end hotels, which average 30 rooms/suites.

120 is not so much in my eyes, could be worse. 645 sqft seems to be a little small for the suites

Compared to the high-end competition, this looks like a prison block and has no sense of it being in Tuscany. Not sure it could be worse!

Hello all. I haven't been around in a while. Will dig in to see what I've missed. I hope everyone is well.

I started to write that I have had much travel of late...but making a list (below), it has been more than I thought over the past 3 or 4 months. Most trips very short.

FS NY (2x)
Sanctuary Camelback
Westin Charlotte
FS Vail
RC Denver
Pen Tokyo
Rosewood London

Not too much planned prospectively...but I'm sure stuff will come up.

I see the prison similarity...at least the exterior.

Argh. I have been here a few times...got caught in conference hell once. For subsequent stays, I pre-confirm that there are no events before I book.

The beach at this property is great. One of the best in South Florida, imho. Separate family and adult pools, too. Club is only moderate. It is a big, conference hotel...but if you get there when there aren't events, it is a very quiet retreat.

Would like to read a review out of pure curiosity. But do we really care about Ritz Paris? Far too many good options in Paris and Christian Boyens has yet to prove he can create a good service culture there. For my taste they are a bit too discriminatory in their policies -- it's not an honor to be allowed to stay at a hotel. The Ritz is no different. Guests have their way of saying "show me", not the hotel.
PS: Interesting TripAdvisor gave them "a fresh start", old reviews seem to be deleted. Funny considering they have written their history all over it, but part of that history were also some disappointed reviews in years before the renovation, when the place was very run-down and not even well maintained. Early indications of the renovations by some respected posters here (I recall Pierre&Cedric posting) were also a bit hesitant.

Expected Zoe on that list, however would have also thought some other usual suspects would appear, such as FS Cap Ferrat or Eden Roc.
