FWIW - I'll always have a warm fuzzy feeling about Residence Inns because of that experience.
it may not have been managed by marriott, and if it was managed but not owned by marriott, it may have been the owner who was responsible.

I tend to have less sweet memories of the Residence Inn.. Some of these reviews remind me of my five or six experiences there...

Just as a point of clarification when it comes to "cockroach" stuff. There are those little nasty German/northern cockroaches that are associated with bad sanitary conditions. They live inside. Then you have our huge Florida Palmetto bugs. I think they're probably related bugs. But Palmetto bugs are generally outside critters - are not associated with dirty inside conditions- and usually wind up inside only when you leave doors/windows open.

Palmetto bugs tend to come with semi-tropical territory. But - if I find one in my house or a hotel room - doesn't mean either is dirty. Just means I've left a sliding glass door or window open. I haven't seen a nasty German/northern cockroach since I moved from the NE 40+ years ago - not in my house - or in any hotel property in Florida or elsewhere in the SE. Robyn

I've stayed at a whole lot of IC's around the world and some of them are real luxury, such as the Willard and Hong Kong, but I wouldn't put NY TS on that list. And Sydney is hit and miss. Try for the Lincoln Suite at the Willard.

And congrats on timing your stay in HKG for the 50th anniversary! I was there recently and they have an excellent 50 year old Port, made especially for the MO HKG. It's a treat.

Totally agree with this - we lived in Sydney and those enormous outside cockroaches used to come in when we had the windows open The cat we inherited with the house loved playing with them

The IC Times Square is on the list simply because it is 5 days in NYC entirely on points!

That's nice and as an RA it's ok, but this is the Luxury Forum and the IC TS shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath!
