MO Bodrum next week with a last minute decision since the weather is still very promising in October. Amanruya had unfortunately closed the season earlier.

Please report on it in the Bodrum thread after your stay. I, for one, would greatly appreciate it.

Very enslaved to Monsieur Michelin if you don't mind my saying so. Yet I must say the worst meal I was served last year was at the Club del Doge in the Gritti Palace. Every course was awful, the service arrogant, the atmosphere funereal. There are much better places in Venice to waste your money!

Totally agree about the Gritti. Awful food and beyond arrogant service.

I will try my best with my very amateur camera if I could wake up from the glamour of the property -which I hope based on the reviews. I am not experienced in travel reports however may provide some pics and comments from the trip at least. :-)

this is an unintentionally hilarious comment considering bhrubin's comments re michelin, perhaps mostly in DiningBuzz forum.

Apparently we will be not far behind bhrubin, as we will be spending 3 weeks in Northern Italy and Slovenia beginning in less than two weeks.

We'll hire a car, and begin in Venice, winding our way clockwise.

The absolute only thing I have booked at the moment is Osteria Francescana, and I am looking about trying to fill in the rest of our meals and hotels (in that order!).

Any recommendations - for both - are highly appreciated. As I said, we'll start in Venice, wind our way down to Modena, over to Milan, Piedmont, Lakes, Dolomites, etc etc.

The next trip is going to be Hacienda Temozon in the Yucatan in November. Uxmal has been on my short list for a while, and we are also going to visit Kiuic and Hutchucmil, plus Celestun for a break from ruins.

I wanted to try the new Chable Resort, but I don't think it will be open in time for me to be comfortable with staying there with my pickiest client (my husband) - and it may not be open in time at all. We will just have to go back

Be careful driving in Venice. The streets are often flooded.
