Just booked our safari for July 2017. 4 nights at each place, save for the Saxon and Latitude 15, which are overnight stays in Joburg and Lusaka, respectively.

Flying outbound on TK (SFO-IST-JNB), then returning on ET & UA (LUN-ADD-LAX-SFO), with a short (1-hour) stop in Dublin on the ADD-LAX leg.

- Tswalu Kalahari (South Africa)
- The Saxon (Johannesburg, South Africa)
- Mchenja Bush Camp - Norman Carr Safaris (South Luangwa National Park, Zambia)
- Anabezi Luxury Tented Camp (Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia)
- Latitude 15 (Lusaka, Zambia)

A few years back we stayed at South Luangwa Park in mid-June and I can tell you it was absolutely FREEZING at night. As soon as the sun set the temperature sank rapidly. I got home with bronchitis and needed antibiotics. Just a friendly warning . . .

Noted, thanks! We've been to various game reserves in Southern Africa in (their) Winter, so I know of what you speak. We'll be sure to be bundled up in a big way.

Since the primary purpose of going to S. Luangwa is for the walking safaris on offer, we intend do the hikes in the morning to stay warm(-er) and do the vehicle safaris in the afternoon. It still doesn't help us in the evenings at camp, but we hope this strategy will keep us out of harm's way!

Stuck away from home with work for my 35th birthday, so I've selectively planned a weekend to finally try the Roma Cavalieri for a weekend and then have a couple of days enjoying old favourites at Astir Palace and the much under-rated Grande Bretagne in Athens.

None are exactly international level luxury, but they'll beat the A-Loft Milan or being stuck in Staines.

Actually, I'd say the Grand Bretagne is the nicest hotel in Athens...and absolutely is international level luxury! And many like the Rome Cavalieri, too. So enjoy! ^
