It has been judged as 'exceptional circumstances' and ineligible for EC261.

The entity that supplies fuel at AMS is a joint venture between KLM and five oil companies. So zero redundancy, but the airlines are presumably free to buy kerosine from any of the five participation suppliers.

Given that KLM partially owns the company that provides refueling services at AMS, one could argue that it acually is a KLM issue, whereas all other airlines get away scot-free.

Still minor delays today. 30-60 mins on several AMS flights. Now we just have to wait for the stormy weather that often comes after a heat wave.

Moment systems were (partially) up again a thunderstorm was nearby, which halted the ground operations. KLM says their 83 delayed flights should all leave tonight.

Ouch, really not the luckiest of days for AMS!

I doubt however if KL can pull this off as I believe there are ATC restrictions and late evening/midnight departures are not allowed?

Schiphol got allowance by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate to have two runways open this night (instead of one) to cover up the inbound and outbound delays.

Just one single KL flight scheduled after 8 p.m. yesterday was not delayed. On the other hand, only half a dozen were canceled.

Schiphol should be in for fun and games today, they are forecasting a severe southwesterly gale with gusts up to 100 kph. Winds are only expected to abate somewhat during the evening.

Let's see if the boards turn crimson.

I'm not sure it belongs in this thread, but at the moment (14.08 at 14.45) schiphol.nl appears to be down.

The very beauty of this thread is that it transcends individual issues and has a recurrent and atemporal relevance.
