1. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. NGO-HNL is booked in business class, but HND-NGO is in economy. Will we still get the baggage allowance as if we're flying business class the whole way?
2. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. Will we have lounge access in HND?

Yes. 1A/K are reserved for OWE/Diamonds/VIPs, and is only released at the airport.
You might get lucky if your travel agents has good connection with JAL, and can put in a favor for you (as you are a "VIP") to get them prior to OLCI.
Main thing is, these are prestigious seats (for JAL clientele) and JAL doesn't want to "offend" its elites/VIPs by having the seat taken before the said elite/VIP does check in.
(A nascent form of DKNWIA).
Oh, and VIP dont generally bother with OLCI, so that's why they remain blocked until at the airport
(when the airline has a good idea of the profile of passengers on the flight and can decide to release the seats).
Best way is to go to the airport 2 or so hours before checkin, if you really want 1A/K.

As redemptions normally don't qualify for 1A in advance, I would say there is a risk. Unless you book very last minute that is.

Are you sure that’s still the case after amadeus? I really hope they add back the fate based seat availability if that’s been removed after amadeus

This was booked back in Feb and I was able to select 1A on the outbound from LHR and 1A/1K were available in the inbound (although I went with 2K), and it's still there. Anyway, I hope it sticks, and I'll make sure to OLCI as soon as it opens.

Hello folks.
I'm a recent convert to JAL (I previously had status with American and Qantas, but realized they were both pretty useless programs). I currently have about 63k FLYON points and am looking to get up to 80k (for JGC Premier status) with a trip to Japan in December.
Do you have any suggestions for how to get there?
I live in Oz, so I was thinking to book some JAL Explorer Pass flights, but I've found conflicting information online.
Do these explorer pass flights earn at 50% (class G, per JAL's website), or are they "full fare" (which I've seen referred to on this forum)? Are there any caveats to be aware of?
Any advice is appreciated. Or if you have any other creative ideas, even more so!

Also, JAL domestic flights that are part of international itineraries (e.g. the NRT-> ITM segment of a SYD -> NRT -> ITM booking) earn at 100%. Has to be on the same ticket. You can upgrade to Class J at the airport, I think you get Class J by default if your international segments are in J or above. Not sure if F is bookable online but can probably upgrade at the airport too.

To clarify, this is before adding the 2x multiplier for domestic JAL flights? I find this confusing, because their website lists G fare as 50% earning (https://www.jal.co.jp/cgi-bin/jal/mi..._mile_save.cgi). I can see how it could be 100% if you're taking
"base miles * 50% * 2 (domestic multiplier) = base miles * 100%",
but you and others on this forum seem to be saying it's
"base * 100% * 2 = base * 200%".
Or am I misunderstanding?

My previous trips with standard JEP, no upgrades I got as stated by mhy as well.
(Base * 100%) Miles
(Base * 100% * 2) FOP
Booking class is listed as G, but I think as long as it's booked through the JEP fare portal, the system knows to give you 100% base miles.

Thank you both, very helpful!
On a related note, I was hoping to combine the JEP with the current double-FOP-month promotion (where you get to select 1 month of the year when your FOP are doubled). But it looks like I can't register for this December, as I just earned my status this year. The way the requirements are written, it seems you can only get this the year after the one in which you qualify. Has anyone experienced this?
