Crowne Plaza Milwaukee Airport

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very pleased.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King, received same with lounge access, which includes breakfast Mon-Fri and evening appetizers from Sun-Thu. Platinum members can also choose between 600 points or a trail mix and bottle of H2O.

How are the rooms?
Spacious. Pleasing modern decor. Smartly designed.

How is the exec. lounge?
Excellent in the evening with Cathy being a wonderful host. A huge contrast from the cynical, bitter breakfast lady in the mornings.

What was good and what was bad?

Good
+Smooth check-in, almost everyone were very warm and friendly
+Attractive lobby, nice carpeting in floor hallways leading to rooms
+Ultra-comfortable beds/pillows
-Quiet location, great soundproofing, slept great all week
+Stylish room
+Massive LCD TV with great channel selection, mostly in HD
+Comfortable ottoman
+A1 quality Templespa toiletries
+Good shower pressure and heat
+Awesome jet spa and pool area, and open late to 12am daily
+Wonderful platinum lounge in the evenings from 5-7:30pm Sun-Thu. Cathy, who runs the evening service, is a star employee who goes way above and beyond
+Altitude restaurant/bar downstairs serves excellent food at reasonable prices

Bad
-Breakfast lady in Platinum lounge (Jean?) was condescending, rude and routinely closed 20-30+ minutes before scheduled 10am cut-off time in order to skip out early
-No fridge or microwave in room, though can be reserved through front desk
-Very little within walking distance (and city buses sketchy), you will need a car here

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Regular summer rates around $120, very fair. Regular points 20k, a good deal. For pointbreaks, an unbeatable value.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Fine.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked One Bedroom Queen Suite. Requested quiet upper, given across from elevator on 3rd floor facing always-busy Rene Levesque.

How are the rooms?
Huge and dated. Sparse, aging furnishings. Decor of one aged, crooked pint-sized photo. Holes in walls.

How is the exec. lounge?
Yeah right! This is a 1960s-style student apartment.

What was good and what was bad?

Good
+Smooth check-in/check-out
+Comfortable beds/pillows
+Large LCD TV with good channel selection, many in HD
+Large fridge, microwave (but no cutlery or utensils!)
+Oversized bathroom
+Non-corner rooms have a small balcony, useful for bringing in fresh air as the HVAC units cannot be controlled here
+Great location for Jazzfest, a four (seedy) block walk away

Bad
-No platinum recognition or perks on repeat visits
-No hot water on day 1
-Wall-controlled thermostat preset at 24'C, could not turn it down, it's an issue both here and the connected Candlewood Suites (floors 9+)
-Signs of age everywhere, from the exposed wiring on light switches, marks and holes in the walls, damage to cabinets, poor caulking throughout bathroom
-No office chair, just a cheap, dirty 1960s rigid steel chair
-Filthy carpets in dire need of replacement
-Windows and balcony filthy, odd given both are fully accessible to housekeeping
-Empty cabinets in kitchen defeat the purpose of having appliances
-Window soundproofing not the greatest, can hear police/ambulances/horns all hours of the night (bring earplugs or request to face back courtyard)
-Lacking amenities; only breakfast (a total zoo!) and a fitness room

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
The #1 thing this hotel offers is location. For Jazzfest, it's perfect. Just don't expect much beyond an aged, no-frills 1.5-star student apartment.

Holiday Inn Express - London Victoria

Holiday Inn Express London Victoria

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Gold

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I booked and stayed in a double-bed standard room. I did not receive an upgrade. I received a choice of point coupon or a free drink upon check in. Took the coupon.

How are the rooms?
Clean, but very small. Bathroom is standing shower only. Although the 2nd night of my stay, the room in the floor above decided to leave their water running and caused my roof to leak water and they moved me to a slightly smaller room on the floor above because there was nothing else available.

NOTE: There is no air conditioning in any of the rooms! This is not typically a problem in London as the weather is never usually unseasonably hot. However the week I was there, it was in the high 80's and I was on a high floor and heat rises, so it was unbearable during the day. Fortunately I didn't spend much time there in the day. Night required my room window to be left open, which could be a safety issue if you're on a lower floor.

How is the exec. lounge?
NA

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Front desk staff is polite and helpful.
Offered points or drink upon check in.
Rooms were clean.
Wifi worked well.
A very nice neighborhood, lots of restaurants in the area to explore.
A 3 minute short walk to the Pimlico tube station.
A 15 minute walk to famous attractions like House Parliament and Westminster Abbey.

Bad:
No Air Conditioning (May not be good for summer travel).
Small room.
Housekeeping did not always replace my used cups and glasses (unless I left a note asking them to).
The free breakfast downstairs was pretty awful, short of the coffee or fruit they provided. But that is a matter of opinion.
One small elevator for the entire building. Prepare for long waits in the morning, or take the stairs.

I suggest you request a room that faces the back, or on a high floor facing the street. Unless you enjoy hearing street traffic at all hours of the night. But remember in the summer the higher the floor, the hotter the room will get!

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
All IHG London hotel properties are VERY EXPENSIVE, unless you want to stay outside of London (Heathrow & Surrey). This was the cheapest one in London, and I was on a budget, so I decided to try it. For me, I was there on business and it served me well as a quiet place to sleep at night, before I took off to work the next morning. It was also 1 tube stop away from Vauxhall railway station, where I needed to go. I would be careful if this is someplace you are traveling as a couple, or worse, as a family. The rooms are too small to support more than 1 person comfortably. I barely had enough room for my suitcase.

If you are using points, unless this is one of the point-break properties, I suggest another IHG property, probably one that's a HI, or CP.

For 10-20 pounds a night more, I would suggest the Holiday Inn London Kensington Forum (where I stayed previously). The rooms are bigger. The area is even nicer. However, the tube station next to that hotel is closed until Jan 2015 and that was a deciding factor for me, as I had to travel back and forth every day on business.

Holiday Inn Express Munich Messe

Holiday Inn Express Munich Messe

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest room, got room on the top floor for "IHG Member floor"
All the sizes are pretty much the same I guess except for a Family room, I think.

Did you receive a gift?
Nothing except a 200 bonus points! I thought it was 500!

How are the rooms?
Its small, some areas were dusty

How is the exec. lounge?
NA

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Price compared to Munich City Centre
Breakfast is awesome, can never compare them to the North American HIX!

Bad:
Shower Curtain is dirty, it looks like it hasn't been washed in few months or years.

The overhead lights on the bed was dusty

WiFi is terrible, keeps dropping off.

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Good value and there are some restaurant close by but not a lot of options. Its still worth it since the price is about 50% cheaper than the HI Munich City Centre (during the week).

I think I might return.

Note: This is not really in Munich "city" but outskirts, GPS couldn't find it in Munich, its in "Feldkirchen bei Munich"

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Always a nice stay here.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King. Received same on top floor, often a corner room.

How are the rooms?
Slightly larger than a typical HI. A bit dated but functional with large HD TV, comfortable ottoman and office chair with rolling table, great for room service. Spacious bathroom with plenty of counter space.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good
+Smooth check-in/check-out, very pleasant staff throughout the property
+Platinum recognition; excellent buffet breakfast with attractive fruit layout, continental and hot items
+Clean rooms and property
+Super comfortable beds/pillows, always sleep great here
+Oversized bathroom, good shower pressure, hot water in seconds
+Large tilting LCD TV with excellent channel selection, many in HD (also have Japanese NHK and a Korean channel, rare for North America)
+Some rooms have a new fridge and microwave
+Reasonable room service prices, Bistro 100 has a diverse menu and very tasty
+Quiet area just off the 401 (25-50 minutes to downtown Toronto depending on traffic)
+Free parking (vs $10-15 at airport hotels 5km away)

Bad
-For dinner, Main Bistro 100 restaurant only open Mon-Wed; dinner only offered in small Bistro lounge from Thu-Sun (rather obvious that the hotel largely caters to weekday business clientele)
-V-shaped shower a bit uncomfortable to stand in

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Rates vary greatly, but generally offer very good/excellent value.

How are the rooms?

What was good and what was bad?

Value for € or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked basic room on Point Breaks (Reward nights) for 12 night stay.
Received an upgrade to Club Deluxe Room, with Club Lounge access too.

How are the rooms?

Lovely, well appointed, huge bathroom too.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

Great staff
Excellent house keeping.
Great Club Lounge, decent evening snacks, proactively offering drinks. Good breakfast in Lounge, and was also told I could use the regular buffet restaurant downstairs, which I did sometimes too.
Really friendly staff, from housekeeping to gym to front desk to club lounge.

Value for € or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?

Any IHG Platinum who doesn't stay here while in BKK is crazy. It's the first time I've seen actual printed Platinum treatment: Club Lounge, breakfast, etc. Amazing. I have already cancelled a paid stay at the Conrad and rebooked here for next week.[/QUOTE]

Platinum Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard king, given a King with sofa bed.

How are the rooms?
Lots of room, ample room for luggage. Nice small separate space with sofa. Nice sized bathroom.
Well kept & clean

How is the exec. lounge?
None I think

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Upgrade secured via phone. Arrived after midnight- room held per request. Full house -the next walk in was turned away.
Good Platinum recognition (given 500 welcome points AND the welcome bag which included water and power snacks)
In a big shopping area which included Walmart, Old Navy etc.
Missed breakfast due to jet lag but Breakfast staff set aside yogurt and fruit for my husband to send to our room. Was in a rush the next day but Breakfast Bar looked more than adequate with lots of good choices

None

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Only 15K on points but paid cash. My new Fairbanks choice. Used to stay at Staybridge Marriott Downtown.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you booked & which did you receive
Initially booked a 2BR suite but had additional company so booked another room - opted for 2 Queen and a King Studio Suite

How are the rooms?
With a toddler, the 2 Qn was the better choice for the 1st room.
King Studio - we checked in after midnight again and the room smelled like it was over disinfected with bleach. Front desk said housekeeper was new. My asthma was starting to kick in. Called for a room change and was given the same room next door.

How is the exec. lounge?
None

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Given 500 welcome points for Platinum benefit.
Room changes accommodated with no trouble at all. Called Manager in the AM who apologized & was offered 5K for the trouble. When I checked if the points posted a few days later, it was not done so the other manager added another 1K for the oversight.

Bad:
Over enthusiastic housekeeper :-)

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
New Seattle option. Moved from Hilton Bothell.

Booked the cheapest King - upgraded to King Exec
Hotel was fully booked by Intel for the whole month or so

How are the rooms?
Nice separate sleeping area with living room
The room was very hot when we arrived mid afternoon. Cooled quickly with the AC on.
No fridge in the room

How is the exec. lounge?
They had hot & cold drinks, fruit, cookies

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

Airport shuttle came in 10 minutes
Exemplary Front Desk welcome & service. Given 600 welcome points.
We frequent this hotel. Given comped breakfast and parking with higher rate
Had dental surgery done and was given very very late check out
Great breakfast option, make your own waffle, lots of fresh fruit, tools and pastries, hot options on chaffing trays etc

Bad:
NONE

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Rate was higher than what we've been paying in the past but definitely worth it with all the other benefits they threw in.
Already booked our next stay.
