Indigo Madrid - Gran Via

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked best advance rate, and received a corner executive room on 8th floor.

How are the rooms?
Not huge but comfortable (non-corner rooms can be much darker and look even more tiny)
Not a big fan of the design, which looks rather tacky and uninspired, specifically in Spain where interior design is very inventive (see for example recently open One Shot boutique hotel in Madrid : http://www.hoteloneshotrecoletos04.com/)
Bathroom with walk-in shower. Aveda amenities
Flat screen TV with very poor selection of international channels (actually only BBC World, CNBC and Canal Algérie)
Nespresso machine
iPhone dock

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
- Very friendly staff
- Central location, close to metro stations (Gran Via is ten minutes walk from the hotel, Santo Domingo and Callao stations are less than 5 minutes walk)
- Pleasant rooftop pool area
https://mobile.twitter.com/nicolas75...02890906320896
- Fast wifi

Bad:
- Even if rooms are well soundproofed, you are in one of Madrid's most living night districts (which means: be prepared to have people speaking loudly at 4am in the street)
- Uninspired and cheap design of the rooms
- Tiny rooms
- Fire alarm in the room at 3am

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, for location, not for the rooms (RAs might have a club room at IC for the same price).

HI Helsinki City West

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No (see below the section "bad"), I am fed up with this property

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked 2 standard rooms on pointbreaks, got same, rooms facing backstreet, not the sea view. I was not bothered not to get an upgrade, since the executive rooms are similar but on highest floor with better amenities nothing more. Here it only matters to get a sea view room which actually has nice views on higher floors.

- How are the rooms?
The rooms are quite typical HI, small. Decor is a bit dark. TVs are getting dated, no HD, smallish. Tiny bathroom with shower.

- How is the exec. lounge?
There is none.

Good:
There is a decent gym. A sauna as well but I have never tried
Breakfast used to be fairly good in the past (not now, I skipped it as there was so much people it was a mess)

Bad:
Do not expect any elite/frequenter/loyalty recognition here. I have stayed in this hotel >100 times since its opening, but I don't remember a single stay with any recognition for my loyalty or frequent stay or elite membership. My current stay was nothing specially bad, I just got fed up this no-recognition. I stayed here on pointbreaks for a getaway this time, but I have used this hotel in the past a lot when I had business here and there is no choice nearby (Radisson Seaside a bit further by, which is WAY better).

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Pointbreaks is always good value despite disappointment otherwise.

- Would you return?

Nevermore. Will stay at home.

I have stayed once at this property and was upgraded to an executive room on high floor.
Even if it is less central than CP, the hotel has friendly staff, good breakfast and free bicycles.
Rooms are small but pleasant.
Not a bad Holiday Inn (and pretty cheap).

I concurr with what you are saying, however the breakfast has heavily deteriorated, as this hotel seems to focus more on Chinese bus package tourists. The breakfast is more like a zoo nowadays with low quality products

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Gold Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very good.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest available (summer promotion) recevied something called High Floor Exekutive

How are the rooms?
relatively large rooms
nice Northern style furniture
Free tea/coffee set

How is the exec. lounge?
no access as a gold members

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
- Very Friendly staff
- Good View
- free airport shuttle bus works reliably and on-time

Bad:
- nothing

Neither good nor bad: The hotel is a little bit outside of the city center and in fact it's more an airport hotel. However the city center is only some 15 minutes away by monorail.

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
The summer rate was very good value esp. considering standard CPH-rates. Would return.

Yes, very.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard Award room, upgraded to duplex Executive Suite with access to Club Lounge

Huge bi-level Executive Suite with 1.5 bathrooms and large terrace overlooking the harbour

How is the exec. lounge?
Small but well-appointed, with continental breakfast and evening drinks and canapes, water and coffee available throughout the day.

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Very good value for 25,000 points. Would return because of elite recognition and convenient downtown location.

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard. No upgrades

Actually they didn't even notice I was a Plat :| . It was an Expedia booking but I made sure they tagged it to my IHG account at check-in.
I talked to a guest relations manager later in the day to confirm I showed up as a Plat in their system and got a 600 points voucher and a fruit bowl next day lol

How are the rooms?
Tiny rooms, not much to write about. I think I got one of the smaller standard rooms. Didn't even have a bathtub which seemed to be mentioned in the room description.

How is the exec. lounge?
Did not check if there is one

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Near Amsterdam Centraal

Bad:
Costly, tiny rooms, not much value(at-least none for me) as a Plat. Much better options available at cheaper prices in the area.

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Nope

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room, recieved King Mountain View/King Airport view (had 2 stays)

How are the rooms?
standard Narita Airport hotel, relatively large rooms but a bit dated

How is the exec. lounge?
no lounge

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
- Very Friendly staff (guess that's almost always the case in Japan)
- recieved a drink voucher that gets you a glas of wine or beer and a cup of tee

Bad:
- nothing

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yep though it depends a little bit on the rate. This hotel is decent enough but IMHO there aren't that many differences between the numerous Narita airport hotels.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes - although the hotel is nothing exciting, the value for money & upgrade was excellent

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, got a suite

How are the rooms?
Suite with small living room, separate bed/bathroom. Bit outdated and basic, but does the job.

How is the exec. lounge?
There is no lounge

What was good
Price was excellent for Paris - 90 Euro a night is great value. I had to be near this location, it's not the most exciting part of Paris but it actually has a convenient location as it's on a lot of public transport hubs. Suite upgrade and 600 points was nice. They do a simple breakfast (coffee, juice & croissants) for 6.95 EUR - which is good if you prefer a light breakfast like me.

What was bad?
The hotel is a bit outdated, lobby a bit cramped, has no atmosphere - so not the typical place to stay on a romantic weekend in Paris - but was staying on business, so was perfectly fine. TV had no English channels at all - not even news. Some people might not like this area of Paris.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
For this price, I'd consider returning - but prefer the CP Republique in Paris.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes; the hotel ground is beautiful

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room with points, upgraded to 1 Double Bed Suite With Sofa Bed

How are the rooms?

Room bit dated, but the view from the room is very beautiful. There are also living room and dining room.

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge

What was good

-The hotel ground is beautiful.
-You got sandwich and hot chocolate as welcome snack; which is very helpful especially when you're hungry.
-The breakfast is delicious and very cheap; 25 TL/person comparing to 60TL/person with HI Istanbul Sisli
-A business center with free printing
-The location is great; in the middle of airport and old city; so it's very near to go to airport

What was bad?
The suite room is bit dated

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
15,000 points for a suite is great value

Holiday Inn Express Chicago- Magnificent Mile
Booked standard (queen), AAA rate
Upgraded to King room, the next category. High floor, decent place with great holiday prices.
Rooms are small so if you're paying more than $200/night it's better to look elsewhere, but if you can get a good rate then the location is good.
