Direct Boat Transfers to/from Airport One-way: 7334 XPF (updated Dec 2019) (about 15 minutes). Resort will email you to arrange this ahead of time if desired.

Boat transfer from the Airport is not mandatory despite what any hotel emails might imply to the contrary. It's possible to take the free Air Tahiti shuttle to Vaitape (15 minutes), followed by a taxi to the IC Le Moana for 2000XPF (15 minutes), then the IC's shuttle between Le Moana and Thalasso for 3390 XPF per person one way (updated Dec 2019) (15 minutes). If all transfers go smoothly, the journey could be as short as an hour, or longer than two hours if you're unlucky.

* Boat times with a * can connect with the bus shuttle between IC Le Moana and Vaitape town, as shown below:

Bus Shuttles between IC Le Moana and Vaitape town:

Depart IC Le Moana:
9:45am
2:45pm

Depart Vaitape:

The bus shuttle costs 1150 XPF RT/person.

Note: There is no ATM at the Thalasso. The closest ATMs are in Vaitape, the main town where the airport ferry stops. However, both IC Le Moana and Thalasso will give you a "cash advance" on your credit card for a fee of 5%. The transaction will post as a purchase.

XPF is also available at the airport in Pappeete from several ATMs.

I was able to book with my CFN earlier this year (in May?) for our trip in April 2016. I had no problems getting one night using CFN and the other 3 using points (from two different accounts). I booked online as well. I was lucky to get 3 nights in a row! Can't wait!

You were very fortunate. A rep told me she's seen many who would do the same thing, but the cancelled point night didn't free up inventory and the Chase night hopefuls lost out. But, I'm glad to see they're at least accepting them again. At one point a couple years ago I was told by IHG that there were no nights available for Chase certificates a year out, but only for points. They must have gotten too many complaints.

Unless things have changed recently, it might be best to plan on using the certificate elsewhere.
My gf and I were both successful in swapping our pts nt with our chase free nt for our stay this past June.

Stayed 7 nts, 5 pts nts+2 chase free nts. with 20% AMB +10% IHG CC rebate. 175k for 7nts!

It was really weird that I got 2x10% AMB rebate bonus. I think was because this reservation so happens to fall in the overlap of my 2 AMB renewals.
For example, I booked in Jul 2014 while having AMB Status expiring in August 2014 (which I had previously chosen the 10% rebate) and then right before booking in July 2014, I had renewed my expiring AMB status as well (also choosing the 10% rebate). So it appears that my stay had triggered the bonus from both renewals. I mean I was not expecting it since I only knew such had happened when the rebate pts posted.

Wow, I'm glad I got lucky then. I cancelled one of my nights booked on points when I got my Chase anniversary certificate and re-booked immediately using the cert. No issues for me, but it would've sucked had it not opened up the inventory.

Unless something has changed, the cancel-swap method worked fine about 6-12 months ago. Mulitple other posters were doing it (see this thread), and I tried it myself for dates I didn't want. It always showed up immediately, except one time it took about 3 minutes before it popped back into inventory. It was a night I wanted and I was sweating bullets!

So what do people say about going in December/January? Historical weather maps really show rain every day, yet it seems like many here still go during this time especially because of the holiday vacation.

Did anyone here go this past month? Any thoughts on the rain?

I think prices are generally lower and there are fewer people. People are willing to roll the dice because of that.
