No wonder.
My experience was on an OZ-AC transfer.

During my recent visit to India, this is one complaint I had about the cell phone industry in India. Now even that (roaming) is going to be stopped ^

http://m.timesofindia.com/PDATOI/art...w/13685432.cms

The only other issue I have is the different call rates for different places. Maybe its because I am used to he US where it is the same cost to call anyone. I see advantages though in this, as people can call those in their area for a lower rate. Since India and the US are different markets it is important to keep costs low.

If one is on a pre-paid plan, can you set up a credit card with the company and get auto charged when the balance goes low? I hate having to hunt for a store when I am low on minutes.

In YVR I prefer to go to Petro Canada to reload so I can get Petro Points that convert to CX miles.
(Although for my own personal credit, I know a cashier at a store in YEG so I can save the provincial part of the HST. As long as I don't go complaining to RBC about unauthorized charges, they're OK with putting the number in manually.)

Wonderful. The stupidity with roaming costs always had me rather befuddled.

Calling India a violent nation. Really?

I think we should give him a bit of our minds ^

Jintu Gogoi's neighbourhood in Sadiya, Upper Assam, is no longer friendly. Over two weeks ago, an army of eight-legged freaks invaded it. It all happened in the evening on May 8. Most of the inhabitants of Chaulkhowa Nagaon village had been to a Bihu function. When the programme drew to a close, swarms of spiders suddenly descended from nowhere and started biting the people. The festive mood soon turned into one of panic with people bumping into each other and tripping over empty benches in their frantic bid to egress. Jintu was bitten by one of these critters.

Hyderabad Hotels info + booking websites

Hi all,
I will be in Hyderabad for 2 days this month end regarding some business work . So , what are the good hotels in Hyderabad that are reasonably priced ? I want to stay around the Banjara Hills area.

I would like to spend about $100/day. Good hotels in Hyderabad are very expensive. You can get a really good hotel for $75-100 in US but not so in Hyderabad or any other major Indian city .

So, what do you folks suggest ? Also, I would like to book the hotel before reaching India . What are the good travel websites for booking hotels in Hyderabad/ India?? Are Expedia / Travelocity / Orbitz reliable for India ? Or are there any other India specific or local travel websites ? I will be using my US credit card , so I prefer to have the hotel booked before going there.

Thanks !!

You are responding to this a year and half later?

Did you skip the OP?

You should have booked earlier for better rates.
If you have anything to trade, you can check CC for SPG 50.

Thanks for those links. Katriya looks good - plus they have buffet breakfast/lunch/dinner - so that's a plus.
Also, a question - Do you know if these are newly built hotels or old hotels [15 +yrs back] that have been renovated.

Do you know any other hotels closer to Road # 2, banjara Hills ? Also, how is Hotel Golconda ?? I remember that hotel - good location. And it has lots of good reviews on Tripadvisor and it's price is also very reasonable - around $85.

I haven't been to Hyd in almost 8 yrs now and there has been a lot of change since then !!

Hotel Golkonda is good. Katriya from what I remember from a year back has become shabby now. There's a new Fortune Hotel on Road No 12., nice location and much quieter than anything on Road No.1. There's also Ohri's on Road 12 that has a decent hotel on top. Apparently a new Radisson Blu as well

Plus for USD100, you could also check out Taj Banjara - they do some firesales during the low season and summer has to be the low season in Hyderabad :) (p.s. - I dislike the Taj Banjara personally - the lake nearby is a stink and malaria/dengue menace but things might have improved in the past year)

Thanks. LOL ! I know that Taj Banjara . It's been there since atleast 25years !! And the lake stench is just getting worse and worse .;)

I also found another hotel - Ebony Boutique Hyderabad. Saw reviews on Tripadvisor - newly built and has good reviews and priced at around $75 plus free breakfast and internet . Also they have buffet lunch for about $10. Any opinions on this one. This hotel is the closest to my work place in Hyd - so the proximity is the real attraction . This is their website :
