Flying through PHL in a week. Been advised that the upgrade to First is $100 for PHL-MCO. Worth it?

I get in on US in Envoy but couldn't get availability for the domestic leg in First.

Does your BMI *G still apply or is that now an Avios something?

It's a mixed bag, to be honest. 100USD is kinda cheap for a 2 hour flight, but then again, that's for a bit of a better seat and some snacks/food during the trip. I'd personally swing for the F ticket depending on the mileage earning capabilities of the ticket, not so much for the product itself.

Ground service may be the defining factor. Priority security line access saves a huge headache depending on what time of day you are transiting, and getting the carry on into the bin can also be less stressful. Downside there is that the lounge is humongous and there's a ton of people in it. And alcohol costs $$$.

By any chance, do you happen to be going down to Orlando for a customer event by a healthcare industry software firm?

I hope the TATL portion in Envoy is on an A330 - the 757/767 product apparently sucks.

$100 being worth it is completely subjective - I would never pay it, but then again my budget is probably a fraction of yours.

*G finishes end of this month. I just miss it by a few days. I am going down to visit some family and finish off some business. No convention. Love that city, lived there for a some time.

Yep the new 330. I am quite tall so hate being stuck in a cramped seat. How is their First cabin? Looks quite cramped from pics.

The first cabin is better than the second cabin.. That's all I have to say.

Ahh okay. In that case, if it works into your budget, I'd do it. Check-in, security, lounge , priority boarding, better seat, miles, etc. for 100$ isn't a terrible deal.

Total side note, since when was United so chummy with 9W? Have I just not noticed this all of my life?

Fair enough - thanks for the link! Surprised that I never noticed this...

@PVD - yeah, not that special, but still surprised at myself more than anything else!

I could be wrong about this, but IIRC 9W used to give very little miles for affordable Y fares, however now it looks like one can get 100% for all fares except two. 9W still gives 100% for all its paid Y fares when credited to 9W I think. Good move.

Haven't thought about it yet. Gonna get upgraded to BA Gold through the status match so gonna try out BA for a while as with KF gone and Jet (I am trying to avoid) there really isn't much choice between UK and India anymore.
