just a follow up....terrible terrible experience at heathrow with air france....
ba refused to through check my bags from jfk - cdg since i was on seperate tickets on different carriers....no problem since i expected that....
so i checked in my bags from jfk - lhr & had to clear immigration & pick up my bags when i landed at lhr....transferring from terminal 5 to 4 is a nightmare....no wonder i avoided this airport for so long....
i finally get to terminal 4 well in time to check-in on af from lhr - cdg....i go to the check-in counter & the agent there informs me that i am only allowed 30kgs of checked in baggage total per passenger....i tell her that their website states 2 bags of 32kgs each in business class but she refuses to budge from her stance....after about 30 minutes of back & forth where she refuses to call a supervisor in person (she only spoke with one over the phone) she gives me an ultimatum that i can either pay the excess baggage fee & check-in for my flight or miss my flight as it was getting too late....i decide to pay the £96 & deal with it later....
i get to the my gate with just a couple of minutes left for boarding & i learn that my boarding pass has been flagged since my checked in baggage has been put on standby for some reason....since the flight is just about to close i am given the option of either flying without my bags or taking the next flight with my bags....i opt for the later since i have my suit & documents in my checked-in bag which i need for my meeting later on in the day....
i then make my way back to baggage claim to pick up my bags & then go back to the check-in counter & finally track down a supervisor....he apologizes for the misinformed agent & tells me i was correct about my baggage allowance earlier on....but he refuses to acknowledge their fault in me missing my flight & says i would have to buy another ticket for the next flight....once again, being pressed for time since i was now in danger on missing my meeting in paris, i decided to pay & deal with it later....i end up paying £280 for a one way ticket & this time in economy so when i go to check in i am informed that my check-in allowance is now 23kgs per bag & if i checked in heavier bags then i would have to pay a further £180....i again have to get the supervisor involved but they refuse to budge on the excess baggage fee....i finally shift the weight around in my bags to get the balance right & manage to check-in....
i make it to paris just in time for my meeting but am now going to take this issue up with air france next week....if it can't be resolved easily then i am ready to take them to court if i have to....
this is definitely the last time i am transferring via heathrow....
