I don't think they meant personal investment. More the governments who give out contracts to companies who offer them the most backhanders knowing well that the job they do will never be as good as if they just pay a company to do it properly.

It's even worse than that. Often times, a contract cannot be given to anyone because a coalition partner refuses to allow the investment because it hurts his/her constituency. A recent example is the [lack of] FDI in the retail sector.

India as a country, not India as an investment destination to profit from or people as individuals.

Basically, the need to spend lots more money and effort on the very basics that we so desperately lack : roads, sanitation, power, food distribution, basic healthcare, water, education...

I am sure it will, but my love affair with Kerala is over. however, isn't dakshin a veg restaurant. Or I am confusing myself with another restaurant I saw somewhere called "dakshin the veg"
