I am slightly hijacking the thread as my question is regarding Y seat...
I am due to fly IB MAD-JFK at end of Jan. The plane is showing A340-500, which as I understand in Iberia language means refurbished A340-600...
Anyway I was able to select seat 14A in the first row (shown as exit row on seatmap on IB's own website) in economy. Is this a good seat or are there better seats? Seatguru only has seatmaps for A340-600/200/300 and none has 14 as exit row. I also googled but to no avail.
Does anyone have any idea?

Hi all,
Does anybody know which variant of the A340 usually flies LHR-MAD route?
When I look on expertflyer it shows 12 rows of business class, with the first four rows and the window seats on the last row blocked. This leaves 7 rows plus an eighth with only the centre seats. The closest I see to this on seat guru is the 340-600, but even that has only 28 seats vs 30 on expertflyer.
Thanks in advance

So I did a bit more digging and signed up to ExpertFlyer. It says these flights are operated by an A340-500, which according to this thread is the re-fitted aircraft with the new seats. Hope this helps someone else!

It's at least currently still a mix of 343's and 346's...

That would leave only three aircraft operating with the old configuration.

We would need your flight date because on that flight they are currently alternating 342s (old J) with 345s (new J) so it all depends on which day you are flying.

Yes. As of now it is the new aircraft but keep checking back to see if there is a swap. That said, with the number of 342s dwindling it becomes less likely with each passing week that you will get one of them.
