Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

1. Santa Clara Hyatt Regency
2. Executive Suite - 12th Floor
3. 750 SF +/-
4. 1 bdr, 1.5 bath, living area with dining table, sofa bed and wet bar.
5. B+ (Minor quibbles)
6. This suite worked outstandingly well for our family of four. Minor quibbles: Standard tub and shower with white tile. Portico White Ginger ammenities - Ugh. Shower pressure and temperature fluctuated about twice as much as the typical hotel shower. My wife (the coffee snob/addict) appreciated the Cusinart coffee maker and grinder with the large container of fresh beans!

I think we had the same suite last month and enjoyed it. We got a mixture of White Ginger and Quince+Bergamot products. You're lucky you got a standard tub/shower as opposed to the ADA suite with the wheelchair shower where water goes all over the place!

You have to lower your expectations at Santa Clara. The hotel was built as a Doubletree. The suites are unexceptional, especially some of the balconies with HVAC apparatus and other strange appendages. Views can be decent on a good day.

Considering that our low budget put us at Santa Clara in the first place, our expectations were more than met. Especially considering four at breakfast meant our complimentary breakfast bill nearly matched our AAA room rate each day (after applying the Costco certificate discount).

I was debating between an A- and a B+, but there were too many minor issues to score an A for a suite upgrade, which I separated somewhat in my grading from the excellent value. There was no balcony with our suite, but views were good. We were able to see the fireworks at Great America on Saturday night.

And one more thing, that dining table light that is designed to hang crooked can really irritate picture and chair straightening people like me...

1. Hyatt Regency Buffalo, NY
2. 3 room VIP suite (#1501-1503)
3. ?
4. 2 bedrooms, 3 full baths, livingroom/dining room
5. extremely pleased with upgrade, suite condition B+ as jacuzzi tub would not fill up with water
6. 15th floor view of downtown and Canada across the water

sidenote: used a free night so did not expect a suite, but entire hotel was booked with wedding receptions and I suspect they were overbooked with paying non-diamond guests. A family member received an amenity as they stayed several nights while on their honeymoon at the same time as us and our ressies were linked.

Was the breakfast at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay covered for the Sunday Oyster Catchers breakfast?

HR Delhi

HR New Delhi
-Upgraded to Regency Suite King.
-Included airport pickup and drop off (useful since Diamonds are no longer offered airport transfers).
-Diamond Welcome Amenity was chocolate. Fruit and water in the room
-Beautifully laid out suite, electronics a nice touch - larger and much more sophisticated than the Club room.
-Club is very nice and includes several computers for use.

Overall quite satisfied. Would give it an "A-" based on the extra taxes (about $25 US), no beverage. Otherwise very similar to previous experiences.

1. HR Waikiki
2. Waikiki Suite -- 40th floor, Ewa Tower
3. Equivalent of 3 rooms (1 bedroom and 2 rooms for living room)
4. 1 BR, living room, 2 bath, wet bar (equivalent to existing RC lounge)
5. A
6. We got an upgrade to our upgrade from the murphy bed suite to this. Room has 3 balconies (bedroom balcony with lounge chair), dining room table for 8 and sofa with 2 chairs in living room. Room is nicely appointed and has standard hotel flat panel TV in living room, larger flat panel in bedroom and small wall mount LCD in bathroom area.

We thought the trek from the Ewa Tower to Diamond Head Tower would be a drag, but it was really no big deal. We did find that we popped up to the lounge a whole lot less, though.

Bedroom furniture was a bit dated relative to the living room.

This was a nice upgrade for 5 nights. ^

1. Grand Hyatt Seattle
2. Executive Suite. Looked just like the photos on the hotel website:

http://grandseattle.hyatt.com/hyatt/...ocale=&start=8

3. 812 Sq Ft
4. One Bedroom and a large living room area. Two baths, both very nice. The bath off the bedroom was huge with a tub and separate shower. There was a nice walk-in closet in the bedroom area and a large closet in the living area. There were no drawers for clothing anywhere.
5. A+. My wife's comment when we entered the room was "I could live here!" (That's the same comment she made when we walked into our suite at the Grand Hyatt Kauai)
6. Our "view" was toward the east. Unfortunately it was so cloudy and rainy for most of our stay that my wife didn't even know there were mountains to the east.

1. Park Hyatt Washington
2. Park Suite on 3rd floor http://www.parkwashington.hyatt.com/...ocale=&start=6
3. 1,060 sq. ft.
4. 1 bedroom plus living room and office/den area, 1.5 bath
5. Very happy, A
6. Lots of space, very nice, though the room could use a bit more lighting, we think. The bathroom is beautiful. The office/den area is a bit odd -- we won't end up using it on vacation -- but the living room is big enough such that we don't miss the space. Our first night (of three total) is on points, and they allowed us to have the suite even on the free night.

Waikiki

before checkin received this note

Before you arrive, I want to let you know about the accommodations you will receive when using your Diamond Suite Upgrade Award. Here at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa, this award is valid for an upgrade to our Jr. Ocean Front Suites.

These suites consist of two standard connecting rooms in our Deluxe Ocean Front category, which face directly toward the Pacific Ocean. One room has either one king or two double beds, and is used as the “bedroom” portion of the suite. The connecting room has a Murphy bed, which can be folded into the wall - thus converting the room into a parlor.

While this set up provides for a lot of extra space and is ideal for families or for holding small meetings, it is not – extra space and view aside – an upgraded room in terms of amenities or appointments, and I wanted to make sure that you were aware of this before you got here.

As a Diamond Gold Passport Member, you will still receive the finest service we can provide, and you will have guaranteed access to the Regency Club Lounge.

The room whilst very large was definitely 2 bedrooms joined and has 2 full bathrooms and 2 balconies.
The view is spectacular and the room very comfy.
I didnt spend much time in the RC this time as I had my own fab view and a good stock of french champagne.
For the price I would definitely do again though I spent most of my days over at the Moana sitting in the sun and drinking margaritas.

Guarantee best (non-suite) room via suite cert?

I have an upcoming stay at the HR Tokyo where it appears suite upgrades are unlikely. Can I use a suite upgrade award to request an upgrade to the best available room (which appears to be the "Club Deluxe King" in this property)? As a Diamond, do I need to use a cert for this, or is it fair to expect this upgrade without it? Sorry for the newbie question, but I haven't had much experience with upgrades at Hyatt so far.

[Mods, if this belongs in the HR Tokyo thread, or as a new thread, please correct my error? Thx, ST]

the 4 suite Ug certs are for a SUITE so if a basic suite is available for purchase then you can request before checkin and they will block it for you.
