Exterior view of hotel (note the porthole windows up on the 6th floor where I'm located), and first floor lounge area (lobby being on the ground floor). More photos linked below.

It's located right next to Liverpool Station on the Central Line.

For some reason, the interior photo reminds me a bit of the newer - court - area of the British Museum.

And while I've read that it's a bit out of the way from the middle of things, but near the Liverpool station, seeing that "It's located right next to Liverpool Station on the Central Line," cancels out the out-of-the-way issue. Steps to the Central Line means it's close enough to everything in London for me. But I appreciate reviewers' wish to limit expectations in this regard.

tom911, again, your contributions, and your catalog of photos not on these boards, are most useful. Thank you. And have fun.

I did want to comment about breakfast here. I've just done the breakfast buffet (20 pounds if you had to pay) which meets my needs, alternating between hot food one day and cereal (muesli) the next, along with a pot of tea. The hot food has been the same every day.

scrambled eggs
sausage
bacon
mushrooms
stewed tomatoes

There is a good selection of cereals, fruit toppings, cheeses, cold cuts, cold salmon, jars of yogurt, as well as different types of bread and pastries, and a selection of juices, to round it out. They did have baguettes you could slice yourself, but those were not out this morning (or might have been gone already). They also have 3 bowls of jam/marmalade (I had raspberry), as well as small jars of orange marmalade, and a small tray with butter is at your table.

When I exited after 10 this morning there were several guests waiting seating in the hallway, but I had not seen this on the two prior days when I was down earlier.

Overall I've been pretty happy here. Skye1 and RedBeard911 stopped by on the way from the Olympic Grounds and thought the place was pretty nice, too. Today I walked through the financial district nearby and took a bunch of photos which I'll try to get up in the next day or two (in the separate 2010 London gallery). Kept on walking past St. Pauls, over the Millenium Bridge, and finally worked my way to Charing Cross where I came back to the hotel. Long day.

There's a Tesco across the street if you need beans.

LOL. I had the exact same thought when I read that and just had to comment.

I have an upcoming FFN/NBT stint coming up at the HR London...would it be worth spending a day at the Andaz just to "check things out"? Or just unnecessary hassle to do the switch?

We really liked the Andaz, but we really loved the Churchill. Much will depend on your status with HGP -- if you are a Diamond, it may be worth more to stay at the Churchill.

You can take the Central Line at Liverpool Street (just up the street) about 8 stops to Marble Arch, then a few minutes walk to the Churchill. Very easy, but if you have luggage, be aware that there are stairs at Marble Arch.

What category do the Diamond Suite Certs book into (or 6,000 points as the certs haven't hit our accounts yet)?

Considering the Hyatt Regency or Andaz. Andaz is definitely more my scene, but am traveling with parents. The Regency Club Lounge may be the dealbreaker, particularly as we don't fly out until 21:50. Just read through the 8 pages of review and am getting the impression that I should choose the Churchill? The service and Andaz positioning of "we're not a Hyatt" sound exactly as my stay at the Andaz WeHo.

Recent on-night experience this weekend:
  • Small Room allocated despite diamond, probably 1/3rd the size I had last time I stayed
  • Diamond Amenity was 5 Stilton crackers, chutney and tomatoes
  • ANDAZ5, $50 not applied to bill - will argue at check-out
  • The 'Minibar' consisted of two apple drinks and four bottles of water
  • Bit of noise around 2am, but as I was facing on the front, and only on the 2nd floor, not a surprise

I'm guessing you had the Andaz Single which is what I also have reserved for a Friday night in April with a very good rate of £89 exc taxes but if the hotel wasn't full they should have upgraded you at least to a king.

Make sure you also have the G3 code added to your reservation for an extra 1500 points!

I recently stayed at this property and thought I'd share my thoughts.

I actually thought the location was decent. The tube/train station was just next door. A 24 hour McDonalds (if you don't feel like ordering room service, although I find the prices to be extremely reasonable ^), Mark & Spencer, drug store, and other cafes are in the train station.

Check in was very pleasant. Inside of sitting, I was escorted to the check in counter where a super friendly agent helped me with checking in and promptly offered me a beverage of choice. She confirmed my stay and explained my benefits. She told me she would try to find me a better room and went to the back of the office to ask her manager if there were any suites available. A couple of minutes later she returned and apologized profusely for not having any available during my stay because of Valentine's day but promised my room was still very nice.

I went to my room and was very happy with the size (for London). There was a small seating area right in front of the bed as well as TV and a work station. The bed was very comfortable. Because of Valentine's day, they left some heart shaped cookies on the night stand.

There was a bonus foyer area at the entrance where we put our luggages. There was also a coat hanger. It was nice but I thought was sort of a waste of space

The bathroom was decent in size and I especially loved the towel warmers! Excellent to have in the cold months in London.

The mini bar was decent, with water and juices, but I wasn't a big fan of them. But, with M&S just a block away, I was able to pick of some of the things I really liked.

The common area was beautiful, modern and contemprary. I really liked it.

For Diamond breakfast, we were able to order the "Andaz Breakfast" for room service, which was basically tea/coffee and juice plus a choice of the entrees on the menu. The presentation and qualify were superb. I especially was impressed that they brought us a toaster for our toasts so that they would be fresh and crispy ^

The wifi speed was amazingly fast. I tried to download a 500M file. It took less than 10 minutes!

Overall, I had a great stay at this hotel. I will be sure to return to this property when I'm back in town!

I know it's a funny thing to focus on, but I think this is very special. ^

And very nice report, BlissWorld. I'm particularly grateful to each poster who describes what's available closeby. While I know that there are much better locations in London for just stepping out the door and being in the middle of it all, I have no problem with the location based on what I've seen here. The Tube, a Marks&Sparks and an all-night McDonald's right next door? What's left to wish for?

Turns out that it was a Andaz King, according to the email I got after I filled in the comment card and that this was the Diamond Upgrade!

Also, the ANDAZ5 thing did not work as I had other bonuses in the booking G2, and so it does not apply - be warned!
