Get the Zurich card.
Visit the Lindt chocolate factory which is a stop on the boat ride included with the Zurich card.
Exit main entrance of the hbf break hard left. Tram 13 to stop near PH. Name of stop please if someone remembers it?
Visit Cafe Z which is part of the PH entrance opposite side.

Any add ons appreciated.
We have three nights in August. Thinking of a day trip to Lucerne. Anyone have any experience with this and any recommendations to sign up for a tour including transportation? Thanks.

The train is the most convenient way to Lucerne/Luzern. Check schedules at www.sbb.ch

A day trip to Luzern could also be combined with a tour of Mt. Pilatus. You can go by boat (or train) from Luzern to Alpnachstad then take the world's steepest mountain railway to the summit of Pilatus and then connect to the aerial cableway and gondolas on the way back down. There is info here: http://www.pilatus.ch - the timetable lays out all the connections.

The trip is often referred to as the "Golden Round Trip"

I personally wouldn't sign up for a tour to do this. You should be able to buy all the connecting tickets in Zurich main station - if not there, certainly in Luzern.

Trams 6 and 7 also head to Stockerstrasse. Just make sure you are heading in the direction towards the lake. Tram map can be found here: http://www.zvv.ch

I actually did this last October 2009 and it was pretty easy to get around. I went to Zurich station to catch the train to Luzern. Then at Luzern station I found the ticketing office specifically for Mt. Pilatus, purchased the Golden Round Trip ticket, and then made my way to another small train which took me to Alpnachstad (cog railway station). Then went up to the summit of Mt. Pilatus, looked around, had lunch, and took the cable car down to Kriens. Walked a bit to find the bus stop, which took us back to Luzern station.

It was very scenic and worth the trip ^

My you walk slow. Took me 2-minutes but you may have been delayed by traffic getting across from the tram stop...

If you can spare the extra time, I would recommend taking the boat from Luzern to Alpnachstad.

got upgraded to a Park Suite on a NBT stay

Just returned from Zurich. I was visiting with Mrs. GG.... and was most impressed.

I had called in advance to confirm an early arrival (12pm) and late check-out (2pm) which they were fine with

Upon arrival, we were greeted by name and quickly escorted up to our Park suite on the 4th floor for in-room check in. Perhaps the generosity in room-upgrade was because it was a Sunday. Either way, we certainly appreciated it. I was most impressed to find a (in addition to the gorgeous suite) box of kosher chocolates and a bottle of Kosher wine with a and written welcome note signed by the general manager.

There was also a nice vase of 21 pink roses that the Mrs. really appreciated.

Check-in was seemless of course. I mentioned that we would probably not be taing advantage of their full breakfast spread as we only eat kosher food. The rep. checking us in graciously offered to compensate my GP account 2400 points, and also mentioned that we were welcome to avail ourselves of what ever kosher breakfast items we found at the buffet or through in-room dining. The charge would be summarily removed of course. We ended up having some juice and cereal, but I will confess that the other food available did look pretty good too.

We were hoping for a trip to Lucerne, but due to the rain and cloudiness, the chaces of nice views didnt seem too high. Instead we had a very enjoyable time walking about the city, touring the Altstahd (pardon the spelling), and at the advice of the concierge, we took out bicycles from a stand a few blocks away from the hotel for a most enjoyable and refreshing ride along the left-side of Lake Zurich. The bikes were actually of good quality and (surprisingly for a city like Zurich) FREE! All that was required was ID and and a 20F deposif on each bike to be returned by 9pm (Its open 7days a week). This made for a good sunday activity when many stores and sites are closed....and the reduced traffic on the streets makes for a more pleasant ride

Ill post some pictures, once I figure out how to so it with out releasing my entire snapfish album

Upgrade to Park King Suite.

Hello from the PH ZRH. I contacted the Hotel prior to our arrival. Received a nice call back from SanDiego1k's contact (thank you). From our conversation I knew that the Hotel was very busy and we would NOT be getting any type of upgrade. That was fine. I appreciated the call and being told in advance. Was promised a early check-in as we arrived on UA. Upon arrival at the Hotel pleasantly surprised to learn we had been upgraded to Executive King on 5. When we went to the room the floor and the room smelled of smoke. We left our bags with the front desk and headed out while they found us another room. Upon returning told our room on 6 was ready. The exceptional Guest Relations manager we had met earlier came out and told us if we could just wait another amount of time she had upgraded us to a suite. I tell you all of this as it is not the norm and I do not want to inflate expectations. That all being said we are now very happy.

I do not remember the suites being described in detail. It feels like well- home. This evening we returned to a special treat from the Hotel to celebrate our anniversary. A nice bottle of chilled champagne and rose petal turndown on the bed and petals around the huge tub. Thank you again Hyatt and esp the Park Hyatt Zurich.

My wife said the Hotel deserves the credit to have their suite described in detail. Here we go.

You enter onto wood floors. To the right is a connector door. The left has a cabinet with the mini bar electronic set-up with a marble top. Fresh fruits atop. You also have a metal coatrack with two umbrellas. The living room/office area is on carpet. Going around from the the right you have a cloth sofa flanked by two tables with comtemporary lamps atop each. A leather single comfy chair and wood round table with glass top completes the area. Coming around you have two huge picture windows which complete the wall. The banks of window define the living room/office area from the bedroom as does a floor to ceiling wall unit which makes it look like a study on one side and header board for the bed on the other. The desk is glass oval with two wood side chairs. Coming around we have a B&O tv with dvd player. There is a B&O cd player with speakers mounted to the wall casing near the desk. We have a selection of dvds, cds and a orchid.

The bedroom area is a king bed flanked by two night stands. Completing the bedroom area is a square leather chair, wood marble top small table, another B&O tv with dvd player and a make-up table with chair. Coming around are two sets of closets. On contains a safe and Nespresso machine. We could not find the Nespresso cartridges and did finally find them in a drawer below the machine. Like 40. Fresh cut roses here. This area has another set of windows.

The bathroom is on stone. Double sink with huge ceramic tub. Huge. You have a shower room along with a toilet room. Large selection of Blaise amenities. In my opinion these smell much better. A chrome cart near the tub has a tall candle with aroma beads. Glass panel windows in this area which always let light in.

How nice. I'm glad that you get to celebrate your anniversary in style. This is a hotel with superb service, that wants to satisfy guests. Now, I hope that the weather cooperates and you get to take some of the train rides you have planned to enjoy Switzerland's great natural beauty.

Sounds like a perfect description of our room to the T!

Just, we had 21 pink roses in the vase on the bed-room table, and you didn't mention the nice selection of food-related, travel-related, and classic literature books in the wall unit book shelf

Luzern

We had a couple of things we wanted to accomplish today so decided only to visit Luzern. Your Zurich Card will get you to the outter area station named- Thalwil. We showed our Zurich Card to the SBB agent. He therefore made our roundtrip second class tickets from Thalwil to Luzern only. The fare each was 34.80 chf. He said the Card saved us about 5 chf each. On the return trip from Luzern our tickets were checked. All was well. This was a nice half day trip. We still had time to stop by a Golfino dealer store and the Clock/Watch Museum at Beyer.
