after my summer 2022 JFK overnight connection stay, i can fully recommend this property as an excellent choice for a globalist staying on a Cat4 cert plus $50 in Uber roundtrip. suite upgrade confirmed in app day prior to check-in. suite was lovely. regency club breakfast had some quite decent options for a US Hyatt Regency property. solid gym. massive casino.
downside is area around skeezy. would never spend cash or 15K points. if didn't have an otherwise unused Cat4 cert, i'd for sure just spend the extra $200 or so to stay at TWA Hotel.

Well, this was...odd. What initially appeared to be a very nice hard product quickly turned into an obvious pool of cheap decisions, both in terms of construction and service offerings. Frightening Regency Club offerings and terrible noise isolation bring this property down a few notches, and the lack of proximity to the airport public transportation make this property a frank non-starter for future stays in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the new Marriott that should be opening this winter, or I should have just bit the bullet and stayed in Manhattan. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:
Pros:
Photos:
Pros:
- Upgraded to an Executive Suite the day of arrival
- Nice views towards Manhattan - if you look at over the large parking lot
- The bed was actually pretty good - plush mattress, plush pillows, though the covers could be thicker (as with most Hyatts)
- I thought the shower was relatively good - the pressure wasn't bad, and the temperature got hot quickly
- They were willing to give late check-out
- When I arrived around midnight to my room, I thought that perhaps a dog had gotten loose or perhaps someone was getting murdered based on the odd noises I was hearing - after walking into the bedroom, I realized that I could hear the sinning/carnal endeavors/whatever you want to call it of the folks next door through the wall - it was so loud that I could even hear them crying out each other's names and could hear the sound of their skin slamming into each other (the noise isolation was that bad)
- The Regency Club offerings at breakfast were bad - I didn't even try the coffee (the machine barely even put any out each time you pressed the button, and it smelled odd), the waffles looked like they were boiled and then sat on, and the quiche were the only egg option (though weren't terrible) - this offering is just sad and pathetic
- A few cleanliness misses - including a very dirty bathroom fan vent and some toothpaste left in the sink
- Some of the lights were wonky - I couldn't turn off the lights in the extra bathroom, for example
- Overall, just odd/bad vibes - I'm not sure why anyone would stay here besides those looking to get up to no good - the property just feels isolated and the casino thing, I don't know, it just feels off - all of the staff had "security guard" vibes in their expressions, and there were plenty of security guards, too

I stayed here several weeks ago before a morning JFK departure.
Seems like the clientele are really those at the casino. Apparently they are closing the adjacent Aqueduct racetrack after this season and have big plans to redevelop the area to make it a big entertainment complex anchored by the hotel and casino.
It was clean and I was upgraded to a suite. Staff were friendly and helpful.
It helped that I was able to use a cat 1-4 award. It was an extra expense to Uber there and back but given where it is I understand how the hotel doesn't run an airport shuttle. Did not want to deal with the train even though several have mentioned that as an option.
Regency Club was rather limited in food offerings but I knew that might be the case from other reviews. Ate at airport lounge for breakfast so didn't really matter.
I did not notice any noise issues but was staying on a Thursday night and things were very quiet and few guests around.

4 days later, and my stay still hasn't posted. I just had 14 different stays at Marriott post within 24 hours of checkout - Hyatt should step it up.

Just stayed here for an emergency overnight due to weather cancellation of our original flight. It was three overnights actually but the first two we used up some IHG points (our secondary program after Hyatt) for a pleasant stay at the Williamsburg Indigo.
Overall, we weren't expecting much given the reviews but were quite satisfied. It's a Hyatt Regency, and honestly I don't have high expectations of domestic US lounges - so many Regencies have permanently closed their lounges and/or still haven't reopened theirs and/or have subpar lounges. This one is at least open, it's quiet and relaxing, and there's some free stuff there. Orange juice. Hot water. Bananas. Not asking for a lot.
We arrived at 11am expecting to just drop off our bags but they were able to check us in early which was very nice. Given the reports of the noise issues in the executive suites we are sort of glad we didn't get that. It was a spacious king room at the far end of a higher floor and thus very quiet indeed, far from most other people at the hotel.
We arrived by car which I returned early to save money and I came back via train - there is a free shuttle that runs 8am-2am and is waiting there for you at the subway exit (of the Aqueduct station not the Aqueduct Racetrack station, but confusingly the Aqueduct Racetrack EXIT of the Aqueduct station).
The driver insisted he was going to "only the casino and not the Hyatt" but it's the same thing.
Overall pleased with the hotel for an overnight provided you aren't expecting much food wise. We ate in the city, actually, and slept in the hotel because our rescheduled flight was for the next early morning.

They don't have their own restaurant to do so but the lobby Cafe store credit might be passable. My guess is this RC is never going to be closed.

Regarding the subway, it is an easy ride from the airport but it should be noted that it is only a northbound stop. If you want to go back to JFK you have to go up to the next stop, and cross over to the other side to catch a JFK bound train, depending on time of day this could add 20-30 minutes to your trip in waiting time (and stops are outdoors and cold). Also there is no Metrocard machine that I saw outside the entrance so you’ll either need to top it off prior to arrival or use tap and pay with a credit card.
Count me in as being completely satisfied with this hotel. Sure, it’s nothing special, but for a quick overnight it does the trick, not that much different than the HR LAX or SFO. I even had a small bottle of wine waiting for me in the room although the card included wished me a happy 10 year Anniversary and I’ve never been married so that may have been provided in error.

Curious what you thought was missing. The junk they were serving in the lounge seemed pretty much the same as what you get at most breakfast buffets to me. If they had a full menu you could order off of sure it would be an improvement but the lounge seemed to have all the normal carb heavy stuff most US hotels serve, plus I think some bacon, scrambled eggs and maybe even salmon? Apparently though there is no restaurant so moot point.

They have scrambled eggs but only once a week. Same goes for bacon. Some sort of sausage (Pork or chicken apple sausage) is pretty much a daily staple there.

The lounge did not have any of what you described above during my stay. They had premade mini-quiches and disgusting waffles. Those were the only choices beyond their undrinkable coffee. Had they offered bacon and scrambled eggs, my opinion might be lighter, but alas, they offered what was akin to a gas station breakfast.
