Burned a Cat 1-4 free cert last week. Checked-in nearly at midnight after flying in from SFO. On the morning of the checkin, rec'd a text from hotel that I had been upgraded to a suite. Suite was quite nice, couldn't believe two full bathrooms! Breakfast was quite nice in the lounge. Lots of drinks in the fridge, and hot foods and fruit were fresh. I'll definitely stay here again.
I'm flying in from SFO this sat.

Checked in on 9/9 (arrived ~2am on 9/10) for a 5 night stay as a globalist. Used a TSU and got an executive suite on the 7th floor. The suite itself is great. Le labo toiletries in the suites, rooms were new, robes and slippers were provided.
$10 f&b credit at the market wasn't mentioned to me at check in, and it doesn't roll over, so i lost 3 days of that. I'd be pretty annoyed if i had to pay the $25/day resort fee. Additionally, the staff were clueless on the Jamaica shuttle bus schedule. She told me it ran at the top of every hour, which i found to be untrue when i went to the stop to wait in the hot sun. I eventually gave up and took aquaduct shuttle to the A train.
The regency club offerings i found average for a US property. I'd say it's slightly better than the breakfasts offered at the hyatt places/houses i've stayed at.
The space itself is definitely one of the smallest ones i've seen.
The best items imo were the smoked salon and fresh fruit. The quiche which was rotated out with the premade omelette type eggs were ok. Not great, but not terrible. (A previous post mentioned it was terrible.)
I'd agree with other posters that the coffee machine wasn't very good at making any drinks that had milk in it.
I had no issues with the ac control panel always staying lit. You definitely can't read a book with the rest of the lights off.
Location wise, if you're headed to nyc/manhattan everyday, is pretty terrible.

I'm back here for a layover... for whatever reason the going rate was $854++ tonight (!), and that was before this weekend's weather came in and sold it out, so it was a great use of a Cat4 cert. (TWA was $659++.) I texted this afternoon to ask for a suite upgrade (despite the sellout) and to my surprise got an instant reply saying yes (the suite was selling for $1554++ before they sold out, bonkers). I then checked in to the suite online, no problem.
Unfortunately when I arrived at 9pm, the lounge was already cleaned out and cleaned up, no trace that there had ever been an evening offering. So I grabbed a couple waters and a bottled carrot/ginger juice but sadly none of those sugary but boozy canned cocktails that I only consume here. Thankfully I had read about the $10 daily Market credit here, so I went to the market, grabbed a can of Dark Horse sauv blanc ($9), and that was taken off my folio.
Uber was only $24 from T8 (before my 10% savorone rebate and 6% uberone cash back).
I went down to Sugar Factory to eat at the bar, and it wasn't as awful as I feared. The bartender was nice, he made a decent negroni, and the shrimp fajitas were a solid 5 out of 10. I was fearing Applebee's or worse, but this is at least a notch above Applebee's. The fajita veggies were swimming in oil and the corn tortillas were brittle, but the shrimp were good, the rice and beans were passable, and the pico made it okay. It's a very pleasant bar to sit at.
The casino is also... interesting. I've never been to an all-electronic casino. It wasn't as terrible as I would have thought, either: numerous individual craps "tables" that at least actually have those giant dice popping around and simulating the real game somewhat well. I put in a $100, played a few rounds, cashed out at $211, and was able to cash out the ticket at a machine easily. Not bad for a 10 minute detour.
---
ETA: There is now a shuttle option to get within walking distance of here.
The big lot adjacent to the Aqueduct entrance is now called "JFK Discount Parking" and is run by the airport authority (as a $25/day lot) with an MTA shuttle bus every 10 minutes to Lefferts Blvd, from which you can take the AirTrain for free. The lot is at 149th Ave & Aqueduct Rd. Because it's an MTA bus, anyone can take it (no need to actually park in the lot). And you can walk to the hotel complex from the lot in 10 minutes or less. Still a lot of hassle to avoid a $25 Uber, but it's an option.

Stayed here as Globalist, and booked 1 room for fam member as Guest of Honor. Both of us got upgraded to a Suite (with 2 full bathrooms), on the 9th floor. Rooms are huge (at least our Suites), well equipped, power outlets and USB ports everywhere. Good amenities on the bathroom (Le Labo).
Club lounge is a bit small. Nice touch to serve bread from nearby Chinese bakery. The hot items are not too great, but ok for lounge b-fast offering. Cookies throughout the day outside of bfast hours. The grab and go deli is handy. There is a noodle shop down next to the casino (under the same roof - 2 min walk from the lobby) that serve great Chinese roast pork. I kid you not - their roast pork matches HK BBQ Master at Richmond BC.
Parking is free, at open lot across the lobby. Subway station across from the hotel (Aqueduct racetrack going North, Aqueduct North conduit going south).
Drawback - no shuttle to the airport.
If we ever need a layover at JFK, we'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Our room got a good view of Manhattan skyline too. We are at the end of the building - so the whole skyline is visible - from the buildings near Battery park area all the way to the Edge.

I live 2 hours from JFK and have stayed here a few times before early flights. I have always wondered about parking because they don't give you a pass to display and they don't ask for your license plate at check in.
I called today to ask about parking for 2 days. They don't offer a park-n-fly rate.
I asked the woman what would happen if I just left the car there and she said it would get towed. I asked her how they know and she couldn't answer. I think this is buyer beware. I prebook online and pay approx $34 per day to park at T8. Slightly cheaper to park at Federal Circle but since work is paying, not worth the extra 20 to 40 mins to get there for me when I can be well on my way home straight from T8.

and I consider the ownership and management to be evil crooks.I will not stay there unless desperate
I truly dislike the location from a driving perspective to JFK
IMO their subpar breakfast you can keep too.
I'd rather be at a Hilton Garden Inn but granted the rooms are very nice that cannot be denied
To each their own of course the property has some fans.

Despite the nice accommodations this property offers it is at the end of the day A Resorts World property

For myself personally its def worth using a free night cert there accommodation wise but by the time
I look at the cost of round trip transportation via ride share
to jfk and a breakfast I will not eat I feel the award is no longer worth redeeming.
Dining standards are not Hyatt standards of full service but just like limited service properties
some will be just fine with what they have to offer.
I'll be using up a few cat 1 to 4s at Hyatt Manchester Grand/San Diego in the weeks ahead as for me
it ticks all the boxes good upgrade, breakfast, free parking etc
I'd rather pay a bit more and stay in NYC where I can enjoy my stay down to the last minute in every regard
and hire a driver back to the airport unless the flight is at the crack of dawn.
Avoid the entire airport area at all costs. And especially in a Resorts World property where management is too stingy
& penny pinching to provide either a necessary airport shuttle or a proper full service Hyatt breakfast standard.
Once upon a time I lived in Long Island not far from that entire traffic jammed JFK/Queens mess!
Don't at all miss it

I arrive from ZRH around 4pm, will stay here overnight to catch a 7am connection, i.e. need to be in T8 around 5:30a. What is the best way to get to and from the airport, if there is no shuttle? simply a cab or Uber?

Yes, or the Howard Beach AirTrain line to/from the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station (a free ride in either direction) and a slightly cheaper taxi or Uber between the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station and the hotel.

Just came back from an overnight after arriving from Europe ... I like this hotel and use it a lot. I also like the area around it -- walkable, believe it or not, and great Carribean restaurants. I love trains and I love saving money. I'm also intrigued by the new (free) bus between long-term parking at JFK and the Aqueduct racetrack. Did I mention I hate cabs and don't enjoy Uber?
So, with all that said ... For a very early morning departure from JFK, no way would I be messing with the AirTrain or shuttle bus or subway line or whatever. I'd have something booked from the hotel to T8. No margin for error at that time of day.
By contrast, for an afternoon arrival with plenty of daylight ahead, I'd probably take the AirTrain (or whatever it is called) to long-term parking (Lefferts Blvd), then grab that bus over to the racetrack which is adjacent to the casino and hotel.
