This place is peaceful and quiet and I'm only on day 7.
Did you get a WFH (/the Ziva/Zilara equivalent) rate for the Ziva PV that gave those perks? I was looking at it over the next few weeks but don't see any Work from Hyatt / Work & Learn from Paradise being offered. Do you mind me asking what rate you're paying? I was attracted to PDC as there seems to be a few options in the $120-200 a night (incl. taxes) range using either WFH or Prive 3rd night free rates.

Yep, it's the "Work and Learn from Paradise" Rate. Minimum 14 day stay.

My rate is $206.40 per night. $5985 all in for 29 nights, which will earn about 150,000 Hyatt points + the 50,000 for the 6k spend on my new Hyatt Card.

Ah, yes, I was searching for 7 day stays so I wasn't seeing those rates

It sounds like a good deal. For points accumulation, the $206 rate doesn't seem to get broken down into base rate and taxes. Do you earn points on $206 base, or is the base lower and taxes make up some of this amount?

They don't breakdown the taxes here. It's a flat rate, I asked.

if they tell me tough luck is my next call to HYATT CS?
I'm the poster of above. Since they gave me a 20% discount off rate at booking and a ocean view, they are holding firm. They offered me a free upgrade from 1b to 2b for non ocean view but we want the ocean view. I would just then as well stay in Warrenville IL without the ocean view.

not sure what we're doing, we definitely want to be able to drive somewhere, so are looking at non hyatt in hilton head.

Under the Work from Hyatt rate, are Globalists still receiving free breakfast in addition to the $50 food and beverage credit? Any datapoints?

The rate varies by property - some include breakfast, others include a daily property credit. For the ones that include a daily credit you also get your globalist breakfast benefit. For the properties that include breakfast then you dont really get much benefit from being a globalist (since the rate includes breakfast and waives resort fees).

Re the Destination residences, I noticed that the Work From Hyatt page has been updated as follows:
  • Workspace thats either a separate, private space or a complimentary second guestroom (at Destination Residences, workspace is living space within your residence).
OTOH, the GH PDC use of the club lounge would only count if it it is dedicated to one guest. So maybe if two people book it they assign the next one a meeting room?

I've booked a WFH rate at the GH PDC for December, so would be interested in any updates on WFH experiences there, or at the nearby Andaz or Thompson Beach House.

The Andaz is even worse than the GH... its a space in their vegan restaurant.

I dont think Thompson Beach House is offering a WFH rate, but the Thompson Main House gives a separate guest room.

Thanks. I was able to book WFH for the Thompson Beach House a few weeks ago. As it is very small and not meeting-focused I am guessing the workspace will be a second room there too, like the main house. If capacity is capped at a certain % but using a room as an office doesn't count towards that % then it makes sense.

Another factor GH PDC vs Andaz is the size of an upgrade suite. The "Standard" suite GH PDC is about 600 sqft, vs. several options in the 1,100 sqft range at the Andaz. So if you are using a TSU, then depending on how many people need to work the confirmable space at the Andaz might be big enough to make the external workspace less important.

Interesting. I figured the hotel just hadnt reopened yet, but I guess they were just full for the dates I looked at.

The Andaz suites are sizeable and pretty comfortable as a hotel suite. But they dont have any dedicated desk space with a desk chair suitable for extended use (or at least didnt when I was there last year). Its also annoying that youd have to use a TSU for that (and be constrained by the length of stay that a TSU can cover) vs just using the WFH rate.

According to the hotel, the Grand Club haven't had more than 1 person working there and the local law allow up to 60% occupancy booking rate. The $50 per day can also apply to tax but not tips. It is not suppose to be cumulative, but after writing hotel directly, they agreed to deduct $350 for my upcoming stay.

Also considered Andaz and Thomson, but just thought the location might be better at PDC with more food options and all the club benefits at La Cocina Restaurant if you have Diamond or the current equivalent status.

Even if theres no other person in the grand club, it would be pretty annoying to move everything each day and not have a permanent work space.

Is the $350 credit just food and beverage or can also be used at the spa?

what are the La Cocina benefits for globalists?

Agreed. With 40% of the PDC rooms sit empty, why not just assign a connecting room? Maybe we will get lucky and get a suite for free with a living room as the work station.

Nope, only towards food and beverage. Spa access is available so I see this as a plus if you like to soak in the Cenote-like hot tub. I do believe that they charge you an access fee if you don't have a spa appointment. If you have Grand Club access or booked into Club rooms, I was told La Cocina Restaurant will provide American breakfast, snacks, cookies and my diet Coke during the normal hours & evening happy hours from 6 to 8pm.

The Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen offering seems to have gotten even worse - now theyve removed the $50 credit and replaced it with breakfast, although they have added airport transfers.

As a globalist Id much prefer the $50 daily credit.
