Of course the balance might shift if you know you will get to 70 nights, but not more than 100, and can also factor in the 10k bonus points - 1k per night...

I requalified for Discoverist over the weekend at the GH Berlin. I currently have 11 nights with another 5 booked. I will most likely try to find another 4 to get to the 20 night Milestone Bonus but I doubt I'll go for Explorist as there's so little value in it over Discoverist.

since I no longer travel for business, I can only achieve through personal pay, and I can't spend 55 nights on personal time.
Hence I am aiming this year for requalification through spend. I will hit LT GLOB after my next vacation in November.

My CC statement just closed, which (along with a stay over the long weekend that posted today) took to me 57 nights, and I got the globalist requal email.
Of the 57 nights, I have 42 nights in a hotel (9 from business travel, the rest leisure) and 15 nights from the CC (5 night annual bonus + $25k spend)

I had been holding at 53 nights since April, because my Cat 1-7 free night will expire six months after requalification and I might want to use it toward the end of the year. A few days ago my credit card spending reached another $5000 increment and so I reached 55 nights. Got the requalification email and the free night award, which will expire January 22. I have a few stays booked later in the year and will finish at somewhere between 70 and 80.
(In recent years I have been acquiring about 40,000 base points per year. At that rate it will take me 12 more years to achieve LT Globalist. I’ll be almost 80. I guess it’s nice to have things to look forward to.)

Currently sitting at 50 nights - technically I already re-qualified via the 20 nights promo. 41 nights leisure, 5 nights from the CC, and 4 nights from hitting the CC $5000 threshold twice.
My plan was just to hit 50 nights and get two TSUs, but I have another 6 nights coming up for the rest of this year. Hoping for another 4 nights somewhere, else I might considering finding a cheap run to get the extra 2 TSUs.

Don't forget the Cat 1-7 Cert. Along with the 2 TSU's you definitely shouldn't just stand on 56 nights if you've got a cheap $/nt or Cat 1 property accessible to you. Or put extra spend on the card for 4 more QNs.
