The property is starting on level 25 so there's no such thing as a dumpster view meaning that even the least desirable rooms have a "city view". The good views here would be of the marina and the casino etc. which you can see from the pool deck so offering a base room as an "upgrade" is just treating your most loyal members as idiots which is really something I despise.

As I've mentioned, I still had a lovely stay. So they know that they "get away with it", no doubt. Caring about their guests and truly embracing status members is different though, that's all I'm saying.

Since the start of covid, this hotel and the other hotel chains in singapore attracted their local residents to stay during lockdowns and take more "staycations". That practice has only become more widespread in SG and the surrounding countries.
So in summary, singaporeans 1) are commonly known for weekend/weeklong staycations 2) they have access to lower cheap Singapore resident hotel rates 3) they have the dough to pay for the suites/paid upgrades which is how this hotel frequently shows standard suites as sold out.

Had a great 3 night stay that I wish would have been longer. I booked a regular room using Hyatt Prive. Used a TSU to upgrade into a studio suite. At check in a large suite was showing as available for my stay as well but I didn't press for a further upgrade and didn't receive one. Check in was great with the room ready at my noon arrival as I had told them in advance I would be early. A host went over the property with me and gave me her card with contact if I needed anything. I don't know if this is standard practice or something for globalists but I appreciated it despite not using it.
I was incredibly impressed with the room. The studio suite name had me expecting a junior suite type of room but this is a full suite with a separate living room as well as a separate half bath at the entrance. The hardware was great, lots of plugs and USBs. Blinds and Curtains have automatic controls. I had been in a executive suite at the Park Hyatt Bangkok before this and felt the hardware was on the same level. I really loved some of the design touches that made the room unique and memorable.
Half bath and entry
Very nice large closet
Bedroom with a great view
Living room with a view overlooking the F1 track and flyer
Gorgeous bathroom, no Japanese toilet but there was a butt sprayer
Complimentary mini bar had drinks and snacks that were refilled daily, only one beer inside though which seems a little cheap with 2 adults in the room, we shared it daily though. Got one voucher for a free drink at the bar once during the stay between 5-6 which was also seemed a little cheap for a 3 night stay, seems like it should be one per night.
We went up to a very crowded Mr Stork one night and we're able to get a table as guests of the hotel get priority which was very nice and unexpected. The hotel bar was also a fun place to get a drink. Drinks at both were great but quite expensive even by Singapore standards.
The pool was very nice but quite crowded at all times and hard to get a chair. Had to vulture around to get one when we did other times just chose to not use the pool as no chairs were available. There are only about 10 chairs. Drinks here are even more expensive with a Singapore Sling running at $35 which is definitely the most expensive Sling I have seen.
Beautiful pool
The best part about the hotel's location is the Atlas bar across the street. The architecture of the bar makes you feel like you are in a Batman movie in Gotham City. The bar has one of the worlds best gin selections and made the best G&T I've ever had
Breakfast was good but not spectacular like at the Park Hyatt Bangkok. Good choice of western and asian dishes at the buffett but no menu items. Eggs made to order but I didn't try them. Service was rather indifferent, glad It was included but it isn't something I would pay for out of pocket.
Overall I really enjoyed the hotel, especially the hard product. Service was ok outside of the check in and doorman which were both incredibly friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff did a great job as well, big change from the housekeeping we get in America post pandemic. The studio suite blew away my expectations and was well worth using a suite upgrade on.

Have a stay upcoming end of month. Andaz Suite showing available, so I contacted Twitter team to apply SUA. First response (9:35 am Day 1): Property is not answering the phone, I couldn't confirm your upgrade, please contact us in a few hours. Second response (3:28 pm Day 1): "Our system is under maintenance, please contact us later." Third response (4:24 pm Day 1) (after I pointed out that the Andaz Suite was showing available for booking through the Hyatt reservation system): "to redeem your suite upgrade award, we need to use our internal system which is not available." Fourth response (6:24 am Day 2) (Andaz Suite no longer showing available to book): "The suite type necessary to use your suite upgrade award is not available."
I pointed out that if they had applied the upgrade any of the three times I had requested during Day 1, it would have confirmed. Hyatt gave me 20k points.

Yeah I'm not nearly as pissed as I would otherwise be.
The "hotel is not answering" response struck me as a bit odd, considering they would have been calling between 9:21 and 10:35 am Singapore time. I've also never heard the "our internal system for applying suite upgrades is down" excuse before.

I'm not sure why the property needs to be contacted to apply a TSU (suite award). I don't believe contacting the property was ever required when I've requested to use TSU's over the phone or through my concierge.

Seems to be SOP when applying a TSU in Asian properties. Happens pretty often in my case.
