That class would be kind of small though I am afraid.

What a nice way to go into the weekend knowing this thread will have a lot of potential now. :-:

Seriously there are only limited options for Hyatt, they can try to pay off the approved applicants and hope they bite or let it escalate. If the entry on the individuals credit report is permanent... Popcorn!!

Congrats! ^

This has potential in case they don't honor. I don't think Chase likes to fight this publicly and be accused of not honoring terms of their credit cards. It would be probably worth some serious dough to them to have this go away. Or they would simply persuade Hyatt to honor this deal for time span x and then proceed with the scenario I brought up earlier (which is what I would see as the most elegant option for them to get out of it).

well, hyatt can say whatever it likes, but obviously can't be bothered to take the link down, so for all you US residents out there, better grab it before it's gone.

I don't have the T&C of my Chase cards in front of me, but there is likely language in there that allows Chase to close your account at their will for any reason whatsoever.

Regardless, I am sure there are discussions going on today at JPM internal legal to discuss how they are going to handle this.

I don't think it's enough to apply through that link. They would undoubtedly get away with it telling the applicants who were not targeted to pound sand.

Unless you can prove this popped up somewhere in google and you applied for it but that's shaky at best. Let's keep it simple. Those who were targeted and applied/approved have a legitimate claim. Hope the best for you guys.

I would not have liked this to be a widespread promotion but have absolutely no problem with it seeing Hyatt having to pony up for incompetence.

I applied and got approved before "the oops message". At the very least, Hyatt can honor the ones who applied for it. They can use this as an excuse to "enhance" GP by adding another elite level ....oh oh, I am going to get flamed for this

This should be very interesting to watch...

When you look at the solicitation site, there is a link to complete Terms and Conditions, including credit card benefits (and Platinum status).

well, I'm just dealing w/GP and Chase regarding the "old offer" which we rushed into doing w/Diamond's getting 2 nights in suite... had applied for that offer, chase took their time with approving and sending card out. Luckily got screen shot of offer (with date stamp on it). Finally got card in mail (only took 2 1/2 weeks). Of course Chase is making out that their being SOOO generous about 2 free nights in any hotel (yeah that's great) it was supposed to be suite, and Platinum status... (but we're diamond). Send a fax to maybe hear back in 2 weeks... so we'll see. Had hoped that this new offer was live 'cause it's too good.
Oh well, good luck to those who applied.

I applied and was approved immediately. I will await a formal and direct notification to me as to what will happen.

I documented the offer by keeping the email and capturing the web site as an MHT file. I have that if this turns into something bigger.

I presume they will just rescind the offer and give you the option to cancel the card since it doesn't cost you anything to cancel. I guess the only impact is a slight effect on your credit score?

There are numerous precedents for rescinding offers made in error (but usually they need to be blatantly and obviously in error....)

I ended up applying and got instant approval. I received the e-mail and am hoping they will honor it. Not impressed with taking the credit hit as I have a very limited credit history in the USA I am sure it was fairly substantial hit. I will keep the email for my records and see what ends up happening.

Depends how you define 'hit'. Generally it is a 'hard pull' on your credit score. Once the account is established it will then display the credit extended to you and over a the coming months/years the payment history and how much of your total extended credit you utilize.

If you are comfortable answering it, how 'old' is your credit history and what amount did they approve you for? Instant approval is a good sign at least.
