Thanks for the report. We're booked at HWV in mid October to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. Sounds like it may be a bit quiet there. Maybe we will get a nice upgrade - we're both HHonors Gold. I'll post a report following our stay.

I'll be there on Friday. Any good tips on what to do at the resort or in the area?

Exec Club hours are

Breakfast 06.30 to 10.00
Mid Day service 12.00 to 16.00
Cocktails and Hors D'oeuvres 17.00 to 19.00

Alcohol available ( Honor Bar)17.00 to 19.00

The Dolphin Quest ($200 a couple) is pretty quiet just now.

Spoke to a regular visitor at the hotel who went on a organised trip to the Space Observatories on top of the mountains and said it was the best thing he has ever been on.

If ever there were a time to visit Hawaii it's NOW!

Our daughter works in Maui and reports that the Ritz is currently at 19%, the Grand Wialea is closed for a month, and the Marriott has the highest occupancy at 61%.

If you want service and no crowds, book today!

You will love the Waikoloa - empty is what it was as a Hyatt - should have no trouble getting a hammock! We enjoyed dinner at Roy's - free shuttle from hotel. A real beach is also a free shuttle away and the next hotel over. I wonder if they will drop the cost of the dolphin encounter. It used to be that you had to sign up right away in order to ensure a spot - maybe that will not be a problem now. Nice lunches at the restaurant next to the dolphins.

I love this very nice delightful place. I gotta make some reservations soon. Please note when they say evening service is 500-700 PM they mean exactly that. They will remove the fruit bowl as you are spooning from it. Just a warning.

mountain flyer -

If you are going up the Observatories or up to the top of the volcano then TAKE AT LEAST A JACKET if not a real coat. You may find snow up there - barring that you will freeze certain parts of the anatomy.

I seriously doubt it as the HHV is on an entirely different island about 75 miles away.
