This looks like it will be an exciting property, reason enough to return in a few years.
I'm so excited that a Conrad Ubud is coming! We're currently at the Komaneka at Bisma, and while it is beautiful, it's definitely a different "feel" than the Conrad.

Ubud has now become my favorite place on Earth... attaching a photo that I took from my morning bike ride this morning...

no availability - ??

I have booked flights and was hoping to stay in the Conrad Bali in one of their pool suites after reading about them on here - I thought depending on the price maybe even the penthouse with the pool. Yet there is no availability - ever. Not for the dates I am there - tried loads of dates throughout this year and next no availability so I don't even get to see the price.

Does the hotel offer these rooms - or are these purely rooms you can be upgraded to/ rooms held back for VIP paying guests?

any thoughts?

We are in the Conrad Bali right now. As I write this message I'm looking out the door of the suite living room across the pool and into the Indian Ocean. We just arrived yesterday and were notified prior to our arrival that we had been upgraded to an Ocean Suite. We have a beautiful view - one of the main pools wraps around our building - we are on the 3d floor so have a great view of both the pool and the ocean.

We have been down to the lounge in the Conrad Suites building for appatizers last night and tea this afternoon. I'm sure the suites there are very nice, but the view from our suite can't be beat. The suites building is much farther back from the ocean and many of the suites would have only side views. I think they are slightly larger - but for an ocean resort, give me an ocean view and we certainly have it.

We are using points - I emailed the hotel a couple of months prior to arrival and the GM emailed back and said they would be glad to accommodate any requests we had. I emailed a couple of weeks prior to arrival and asked for some flowers to be in our accommodations and that is when they informed me they were upgrading us to a suite. We are celebrating my wifes birthday and they have gone out of their way to make sure everything is taken care of.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Conrad Bali. Yes, the lounge is a bit of a walk but a very comfortable one. The bales on the beach are wonderful - we sat/laid in one for most of the day and just watched the waves coming in. Highly recommend the Conrad Bali.

We were at the Conrad Bali in March and really loved it. You mention that you're in a building where the pool wraps around. This doesn't sound like the Suites area, but rather the south or centre wing. I didn't realize that there were suites in these buildings. But, looking at their website, I see that there are indeed smaller suites (90 vs 120 sq m), which must be in other buildings.

I agree that staff were terrific in working with us prior to arrival. We unexpectedly received a wonderful 10th anniversary cake the evening of arrival. Have a great time!

Was your upgrade due to status? My wife and I are considering the Conrad for a trip next year, but we have no status. If we were able to score an upgrade off an award stay, that'd be great. Our other option is to look for an independent villa.

What would be their purpose in upgrading someone with no status? The idea is to reward those with status for their significant commitment to Hilton HHonors. (That having been said, you may want to check the MVP thread, as you can earn Gold with a mere four stays this year...)

Yes, I'm a diamond with Hilton Honors. Also, I contacted them in advance and everything was worked out prior to arrival. However, I'm sure the diamond was what did the trick.

We decided to decline the VIP customs service, but take them up on the airport transfer. It worked out being about $7 USD more than taking a metered taxi (take the Blue Bird one that says TAKSI on the top). We were escorted from the exit gate to the waiting car, where we were greeted with floral-smelling cool towels and bottled water. When we checked in, they knew we were celebrating our honeymoon, and had granted our request for an upgrade to an Ocean View Suite (we had emailed the General Manager ahead of time letting him know about our special celebration). Because we had requested the Ocean View Suite in advance, I didn't push for an upgrade to the Conrad Suites section (which has free laundry and dry cleaning!)

The Suite was a huge corner one, with two patios - one overlooking the lagoon and ocean, and the other facing the main pool. We were in Building B, which was well situated between the Main Pool and the Executive Lounge. The "Conrad Suites" section of the hotel is on the far North side of the resort, and that is also where the Executive Lounge is... they have breakfast at the restaurant named Rin downstairs until 11 (buffet and a la carte for some items), afternoon teas from 3-5 (which is really anything non-alchoholic plus a pastry presentation), and a great cocktail set from 5-7 (which is accompanied by delicious canapes that are different everyday). The cocktails are very very well made, and there are 5 new featured ones every day - very delicious! Contrary to what others have posted, we were not allowed to have complimentary alcoholic beverages outside of the 5-7 cocktail hour.

You can also choose to have your breakfast at Suduk (I think that's what it's called), which is the restaurant by the main pool.... it was a larger buffer, and we ate there most days. You can also choose to have afternoon tea and cocktails at the East Bar in the Lobby, which is where those with children are directed (the Executive Lounge is reserved for ages 12+). Given the proximity to the Main Pool and Building B, we tried the East Bar a couple of times... we ended up going back to the Executive Lounge for the remaining times because of some bratty kids (sorry to those with kids heh, but we're kid-free at this point in time!)

The Main Pool was absolutely delightful, and we spent two solid days just camped out beside it... you get wifi access from there too They come by with a basket of complimentary bottled water and a nice spritzer bottle to keep you cool. On the days we ventured out, we used a nice paved beach promenade that takes you all the way to the hotels close to the Bali Collection (a giant outdoor mall) after about 30 minutes if you turn right. You can walk back to the hotel using the road (Pritma I think it's called) and it's a lovely path with greenery that's manicured to perfection... the last 400m has no sidewalk so be careful of the crazy traffic! The village of Benoa is reachable if you turn left on the beach promenade path at the Conrad after about 40 minutes (and the great restaurant mentioned previously called Bumbu Bali is about halfway at 20 minutes away). Taxis are very cheap though, and it cost 5,000 Rp (75 cents) to get to the Bumbu Bali from the Conrad because it was scorching hot that day and we were feeling lazy.

We also got laundry done at Devi Laundry just to the right of the main Conrad entrance... we got charged triple compared to the local prices (saw their price list) but didn't feel like haggling since it was still only $12 for a massive load...

All in all, Nusa Dua and the Conrad Bali was amazing... we will definitely be back, and it was a resort that made collecting HH points and reaching Diamond Status well worth it!
I added some photos as part of my trip report here for those that are interested:

I just read on Conrad's FB info page that the Conrad Ubud is set to open Dec 31, 2013. They should speed it up to open by June 1 so I can try it out on my honeymoon

I try emailed Conrad Bali for December reservation on what could I expect as HH Gold. They replied one category upgrade upon availability. Is that all? Let say I book Deluxe Lagoon, would they upgrade me to Ocean Suite? Any HH Gold able to get upgrade before arrival?

What on earth do you expect Where in the t's & c's does it say anything other than that One assumes you know what Golds get as "standard" benefits? You want a specifice suite? Book it!
