A very polite reminder to please quote state/province/territory for North American hotels for ease of updating.

That certainly goes against my recent experiences as a Diamond where the restaurant breakfast was not an option.

Presumably, since the changes to the benefits, there has to be a restaurant option for cases where a space-available room upgrade is not available?

In our case, we were upgraded and told we could have breakfast in the lounge. I asked about the restaurant, the receptionist checked something, said yes and we were on the list at the door next morning.

This was post changes, but in my case as a Diamond I would have lounge access no matter. On both occasions it was lounge or nothing though.

Interesting you had a different experience though. May be staff inconsistency, a very new policy, or some other reason such as the space available upgrade part as you suggest.

The lounge breakfast is actually pretty good anyway, but it is nice to have options if there is a policy change.

Is it possible that it was a "rate" difference. IIRC, when I am staying on an IBM rate at the London Heathrow Hilton T4, I am offered breakfast in the restaurant when I am given lounge access.
