If you're looking for a specialty vehicle from Hertz (something from the Prestige/Adrenaline/Green Collections), it is helpful if you can specify the four-letter car size code (i.e. ICAR, MVAR, etc.) shown on the Hertz website for the specific vehicle you're looking for.

I got 1077.56 using AAA CDP and coupon 169352, although I had to book the reservation first and add the coupon later since it wouldn't let me do it in the beginning. Here is the breakdown

2 months at 511.11
1 extra day 20.44
Vehicle subtotal 975.17
Total Approximate Charge 1077.56

The coupon code is $75 off monthly rental with AAA CDP.

Thanks! I used your codes and got it down to $1057.41 including tax! Not bad for 63 days.

That's 2 months at $502.11 ea plus 1 additional day at $20.08.

Thanks again.

Help with Redding, CA

OK here are the details. I have $150 from Hertz in certificates because they messed up my last rental. I would love to be able to do this rental without paying much if anything out of pocket.

Pickup Location: Redding, CA (don't care if it is the Airport or City pickup)
Dropoff Location: Redding, CA
Pickup Date and Time: 09:00 AM on 10/11/12
Return Date and Time: 09:00 AM on 10/16/12
Vehicle Size Preference: No preference, Cheaper and better mileage!
Memberships (AAA/USAA/etc): AAA and Costco Executive membership. Also I am a 9-1-1 dispatcher for Shasta County so I may qualify for Government (not positive)

Also car coverage would be nice so it's worry free.
Thanks for all your help in advance!!

Danger Will Robinson! Danger danger!

These locations are Franchises (er, Independent Licensees, excuse me), and PCs are likely to be hard to come by. If you're willing to tweak your pickup time, however, to about 3 hours later, I can grab you the weekend day rate for 4 out of the 5 days (from the "airport" location), giving you a total of $162.14 overall for a Compact (Using AAA Headquarters CDP, since that's the one I know off the top). Of course if you choose to spring for the LDW it'll run you just about an additional $80, but that's up to you to decide.

Anyone else able to coax the site into something better here?

What were the exact dates and times you used? Also I used CDP 5 for Nor Cal AAA which is what I have I believe to be correct and then Rate Code FRDM.

Pickup @ Noon, 10/11/12, Drop-off @ 9am, 10/16/12
I switched the CDP to 5, which is indeed the correct Nor Cal AAA CDP, but haven't been able to see any difference in rates between that and the AAA HQ CDP.

As for FRDM, the T&C for it explicitly state that its rates do not apply in CA, and although people have managed to get the website to accept it occasionally, I'm not having success with it right now, sorry.

Rental from London Heathrow over Christmas

Okay, here goes:

Pickup Location: London Heathrow airport
Dropoff Location (if different): Same
Pickup Date and Time: 22 DEC 2012, 07.00
Return Date and Time: 31 DEC 2012, 20.00
Vehicle Size Preference: (M) Ford Galaxy, etc (must be 7 seater, automatic)
Memberships (AAA/USAA/etc): Cathay Pacific, several other airline FF programs, willing to sign up to anything else that will make the rate cheaper

The best rate I can find is GBP 681.43 using virtually any FF program (including CDP: 1075363, PC: 168781, RQ: ABC, which is currently on Hertz Web site offering triple Asiamiles).

Surely it must be possible to do better than this?

Any suggestions from Autoslash and the other experts greatly appreciated?

Try the South San Francisco HLE that is 1-2 miles from the airport. Take a cab to that location. Put down the HLE as pickup location, return @SFO. If the rates are still high, check pickup & return @HLE.

If you are not required to prepay, I would make a backup reservation @SFO just in case you are delayed and arrive after the HLE closes.

I would book something now (not prepaid) and check rates every so often to see if they decrease.
