That food sounds completely decent. Was the wine and beer free??
I cant remember actually. I dont think I drank on the flights. I had already had my fill of champagne in the Koru club prior to departure and then just ate and slept on board for the overnight flight. On the way home, didnt bother either as it was a day flight and I am not a big drinker unless I am in F with nice champagne

SYD - HNL update

i just flew this route and can advise they are now selling the exit rows and bulkheads for $75 a piece (this is new - before on this route it was free). We bought it in both directions. HOWEVER babies all around you sitting here and we had babies on both flights next to us. Still it was worth it for the extra room.

How does one get exit row seats on HA A330 flights from JFK to Honolulu to Asia?

How does one get exit row seats on HA A330 flights from JFK to Honolulu to Asia?

It's my very first time flying with them.

For non-exit seats, are there any good seats on the A330?

Thanks!

I assume $35 is for domestic flights, right? If I'm on the JFK-HNL flight,
does it cost $35 or $70?(since the flight makes a stopover in LA)

What about Trans-Pac flights? Are exit seats fore sale during OLCI?

Thanks!

Since when does JFK-HNL stop in LAX? This is a non-stop direct route so not sure what you are talking about.

Bulkhead/exit row seats for JFK-HNL are $75, not $35. The $35 are only for flights to/from the West Coast.

wow.... I didn't know that. I just assumed that flights between HNL and JFK were one-stop flights. Holy cows, this means I'll have two 9+ hour flights back-to-back!

HA's JFK-HNL flight is nonstop, but you could also have bought an HA ticket from JFK to HNL with an LAX stop and the JFK-LAX leg on either a JetBlue or Virgin American codeshare. If that's what you did, each leg should be around 5-6 hours.

I was on the 9-hour JFK-HNL nonstop. Not bad at all, except I didn't feel any "Hawaiiness" on the plane. It was no different than flying AA/UA/DL. The food is just as inedible as any other domestic coach food. (not that there's anything wrong with it)

I noticed that there are two 3-seat middle rows.(where it changed from 4 to 3) I believe they are 43CEG and 44CEG. Are seats in 43C/43G any good? On my return flight 43C/43G are the only seats with an open middle seat(43E). Any advice appreciated!

My experiences are much different:

The food in economy is free - it is not on AA/UA/DL

Robust in-seat entertainment on a decent sized screen.

Hawaiian themed flight attendant flowered clothing - with a flower in the hair

First class has flowers all around

Free glass of wine with dinner in economy

Hawaiian themed music when you board

I think they do as good as a job as possible to get the Hawaii experience as best you can on an airplane

I haven't been flying economy, but I did notice on the last two HNL-West Coast fights that the food was NOT free on HA (although it used to be). I'm sure the wine was not free either.

looking at this photo, I'm wondering if seat 43G is a good or bad seat?
it is currently the only aisle seat left on my flight

thanks!

from airliner.net (43G is the aisle seat on the right side of the first 3-seat middle row)

The meal is free - and you get a free glass of wine with dinner only. You have an option to buy up to a better meal.
