Although Frankfurt Airport’s website tells you all three pharmacies listed are in the public area (i.e. landslide)

according to the interactive map on the Lufthansa app there is a pharmacy between gates Z11 and Z13 on the non-Schengen departure / US arrival level.

Thanks for the warning. I am on iOS, which has its own set of problems regarding irresponsible developers.

I just went to the pharmacy. There is one airside at the Z gates and one in B (which I believe is landside). The pharmacy staff told me that you need to be a german resident or have german health insurance in order to get a vaccine passport, so they were not able to give me one.

This was my experience at the airport (MUC) too, when I urged my traveling companions to give it a shot (I already got mine at a pharmacy in Munich off the U6).

You'd likely have better luck at a pharmacy around town, unless they clamped down on CDC cards. It's also suggested here that locations near US military bases can be more receptive to CDC card holders.

I got an EU digital COVID cert from France. I've not found a way to get it transferred to my Android based mobile phone, Verizon is the carrier. Will a printed copy work for entry into places that require one?

A printed copy is fine. If you want to load it on a german app that people recognize, find the 'Corona-Warn' app in the google play store. You can scan in the certificate there. The french 'tousAntiCovid' app also works to store and show the QR code.

Assuming your phone uses a US Play Store account:

1. install f-droid App Store (for open source apps) - https://f-droid.org

2. In f-droid search for the open source fork of the official Corona Warn App . It’s called “Corona Contact Tracing Germany”. Install that.

3. use the Corona Contact Tracing Germany app to scan your QRs.

If you've got Android, no reason for any work around now. The Koch Institute's CovPass is available in English for non-German phones on Google Play Store.

This is not for track and trace but for your certificate only.

Do you have a link -- I'm not seeing it on my US Pixel 5. The only RKI app I see is "STIKO" -- which seems to be for doctors...

I'm traveling to Germany from the UK next week and hope to get the vaccine certificate situation sorted. I downloaded Corona-Warn but it's not recognizing the barcode on my NHS vaccination certificate. (I used the NHS certificate that's valid for travel and am sure I was scanning the QR code for the second dose.) However, I've been able to scan the NHS code and generate a certificate in TousAntiCovid. Will the French app be recognized in and around Frankfurt/Mainz or do I need to carry a paper copy of my NHS certificate or figure out how to download CovPass once I arrive and find a pharmacy to update it?

In the France forum on the Pass Sanitaire, someone posted that you can go to getcovidpass.eu, which will allow you to add your QR code to your Apple or Google wallet. So, if that's correct, there's no need for a country-specific app.

My understanding (and PLEASE someone correct me if I'm wrong!) is that as long as you have the QR code in European format, it can be displayed on any EU country's app and it will also be accepted in any other EU country. Or, you can carry a paper copy of the QR code and show it along with your passport. Or, apparently you can load the QR code into your Apple or Google wallet and display it without having to load it into a country-specific app (see my post right above).

Have German restaurants/bars/cafes/etc. been diligent in requiring a QR code? I read reports in the Pass Sanitaire thread for France, suggesting that Italy isn't, the Netherlands is, and France... ymmv.

Restaurants give the pass/cert (in any shape) a quick glance. There is no verification by scanning it like in France.
